Director of Strategic Planning Central Texas
**JOB SUMMARY** Reporting to the VP, Strategic Business Development & Analytics, the Director Strategic Planning is responsible for strategic planning for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which may include establishing organizational objectives, developing long-range plans, increasing market positioning and differentiation, and identifying new business opportunities. Identifies, investigates, evaluates, and recommends strategic business opportunities that are in line with BSWH long-range goals, which may include network strategy, new services, new technology, business alliances, joint ventures, acquisitions/divestitures, service line expansion, new care delivery systems, or other strategic opportunities for BSWH. Develops and implements strategic plans primarily for the Central Texas markets (including Waco, Temple, College Station and Austin) that will ensure BSWH meets its business objectives, including continued successful growth and financial results. Leads and conducts environmental assessments, organization position analysis, and other studies. Ensures the best use of the BSWH resources for the establishment of key business objectives. Monitors and evaluates results of existing strategic plans and adjusts as necessary. May conduct special studies for company and regional senior leadership teams in areas such as operational effectiveness, operating cost containment, and technology adoption or assessment. Collaborates and coordinates input from assigned departments to facilitate integration and alignment with BSWH business objectives and overall strategic plans. A system Director translates and implements strategic plans and objectives for area of responsibility. Makes final decisions on operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives. Recommends policies and organizational changes for area. Plans and executes projects and initiatives that meet annual objectives. Erroneous decisions at this level tend to have negative impact on the success of the area, business unit, and possibly the overall organization's operations. Plans and directs the operations of a department or area, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs of the unit. Leads and advises subordinate(s) to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Has a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE** 1. Directs system-wide strategic planning activities for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH. 2. Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and priorities aligned to BSWH overall business objectives. 3. Directs and facilitates strategic planning processes, generating analytical insights, developing business cases, and recommending projects essential for strategic growth of BSWH. 4. Leads and project manages key strategic planning efforts, providing succinct operational and financial performance insights, as well as data-driven recommendations of growth projects for the organization. 5. Leads analytical support of the business plan process that includes the development of comprehensive market assessments. 6. Collaborates with facility operations and senior leadership to incorporate collective input as part of the process to create strategic plans. 7. Identifies and aggregates analysis and projections from a variety of internal and external data and information to develop and communicate observations, conclusions, and recommendations. 8. Directs or conducts ad-hoc competitive research and analysis in accordance with established priorities. 9. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on healthcare industry trends and makes strategy recommendations. 10. Identifies and recommends best practice tools to meet the planning needs of the assigned area. **KEY SUCCESS FACTORS** 1. Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. Master’s degree preferred. 2. 5+ years of experience in strategic planning, business analytics, consulting, or related area. 3. 1+ years of experience in a leadership role. 4. Healthcare experience preferred. 5. Ability to evaluate industry trends, develop long-term implications, and recommend pragmatic strategies. 6. Project management skills. 7. Ability to organize, analyze, and synthesize large sets of data to influence strategic decisions. 8. Excellent written, verbal, and presentations skills. This director position allows for a hybrid work structure where employee primarily works in the administrative offices, and can work remotely based on team needs and demands of specific tasks. This position requires a high degree of collaboration with others in the organization. This position may be based in a Central Texas market, or Dallas - travel will be required to Central Texas markets (including Temple, College Station and Austin) to meet with regional leadership teams.
