Director of Strategic Transformation

The Director of Transformation & Optimization Office will lead a cross-functional team accountable for supporting significant IT invest portfolio of work to transform the premium audit experience for our customers, agents, and brokers. Additionally, this role will support Tech & Operations senior leadership teams in integrating the strategic vision and end to end transformation across lines of business into a cohesive roadmap and strategy as well as supporting strategic planning activities. This role will be responsible for working with stakeholders across Premium Audit to drive the portfolio of strategic initiatives including refining backlog of work, overseeing execution including change management, risk controls, and issue resolution. They will also be responsible for collaborating across key partners in IT, Operations, Underwriting, Data Science, and Compliance to drive desired business and operations strategic outcomes. This role will report to the AVP, Premium Audit Transformation & Optimization Office. WORK ARRANGEMENTS : This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our offices will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week. Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Drive end-to-end transformation strategies with a focus on unlocking pace and scale and extending business solutions across SB and M&L and supporting functions like Billing. Includes a focus on embedding generative AI throughout the customer journey and internal processes. + Drive best practices and consistency across SB and M&L in the customer experience and supporting premium audit processes. + Drive connection and synergy across all the end-to-end transformation and strategic initiatives work. Manage the strategy and tactics to drive breakthrough concepts and business designs that will deliver annual, financial benefits and differentiated customer experiences. + Develop and continuously refine the strategy and roadmap for how we will leverage data insights, generative AI and other solutions to transform the premium audit operating model and customer experience. + Lead Optimization Consultants to ensure quality and timely delivery, mitigate risks, and develop KPIs and financials accurately. Conduct analysis to inform business requirements. + Partner with Premium Audit and Digital IT and Data Analytics partners to assess and refine solution design, estimates, and corresponding epics and features and ensure alignment with Enterprise Data Services roadmap. + Leads delivery at the ART level and prioritizes ART level epics and features. Owns metric development, CBA, and control planning of new processes or capabilities in partnership with Work Force Management (WFM), finance and business leaders. + Partner with IT to lead delivery including Program Increment (PI) planning for ART (business optimization teams), build, issue resolution, test, change management, release, and measuring results. Coordinates with Agile Product Management (APM) peers on cross-ART delivery considerations. + Conduct in-depth analysis and design proof-of-concept pilots or test & learns to test strategy or solution design hypotheses and assumptions. + Engage and influence stakeholders and business partners to identify process and technology enhancement opportunities, guiding prioritization discussions and ensuring alignment with strategy. + Lead or collaborate on strategic planning activities. Develop the agenda and facilitate strategy meetings. + Ensure disciplined prioritization and planning, maintain backlogs and manage team-level agile routines (PI planning, feature refinement, user story approvals, sprint reviews and demos). + Help to educate and challenge the organization to drive more leading-edge capabilities into their roadmaps. Build innovation and experimentation backlog. + Supports Values Stream lead in monthly VS Operating reviews, MBRs, BPCs / VS Health & Prioritization calls. QUALIFICATIONS: + Five or more years in a leadership role driving strategy and/or innovation. + Five or more years program management or process improvement experience facilitating medium-to-large-scale process or technology initiatives in a large and complex corporate environment. + Experience managing budgets and financials preferred. + Strong business knowledge preferred and a minimum of ten years of industry experience. + Agile Product Management experience with strong expertise in how to leverage technology to drive business value. + Deep expertise in innovation and strategy enablement. + Form trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization, including executive management; executive presentation skills required. + Strong data analytics skills; proven track record working with and building out process maps, metrics and identifying trends. + Strong project facilitation and leadership skills; ability to think strategically while connecting to operational details. + Highly organizational skills preferred. + Demonstrated ability to coach, lead and develop a high performing team, motivate others, and achieve results. + Independent self-starter with a strong work ethic and sound business judgment. + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred. + Green or Black Belt experience or similar process methodology training preferred. + Experience with automated business processes, technology driven solution design, and data science technologies strongly preferred. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
