About the Role:
The Director of Strategy will leverage insights from Voice of Customer (VoC) research, deep automotive / retail experience, and other inputs to identify opportunities and guide actionable strategies that drive innovative retail solutions for automotive clients and other DCI non-autmotive clients as needed. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategies, develop KPIs, and create ROI-based proposals to drive profitable account growth. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy, this Detroit-based position involves direct client engagement, strategic planning, management of direct reports, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines to ensure measurable results.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Opportunity Development:
Utilize inputs from VoC research, data analytics, and market trends to identify and define opportunities for retail innovationTranslate customer and retailer needs into actionable strategies that align with client business objectivesPartner with internal teams to prioritize opportunities and ensure alignment with organizational goalsMarketing Planning Strategy:
Oversee and guide the development of marketing DCI products and services to retailers to drive increased adoption and sales of optional program elementsProvide training and support to ensure direct reports excel in creating and implementing marketing strategies that enhance retailer engagement and effectivenessCollaborate with Data & Analytics team to identify trends and opportunities to refine marketing approaches and drive measurable resultsValue Demonstration & KPI Analysis:
Develop clear KPIs to measure the success of strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with DCI and client goalsMonitor and analyze performance data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for optimizationDevelop value-based results reports that highlight the impact of strategies on business outcomes and build compelling narratives that demonstrate the value of proposed solutionPresent insights and recommendations to clients in a clear and engaging manner, ensuring they understand the strategic valueClient Collaboration and Engagement:
Actively participate in client meetings to ensure a deep understanding of their business needs and objectivesBuild strong, trusted relationships with clients by consistently delivering insights and strategies that address their unique challenges and position DCI Marketing as a thought leader in retail innovationSupport client presentations with well-written and data-supported insights, trends, and recommendationsTeam Leadership and Management:
Manage and mentor direct reports, providing guidance on project execution, professional development, and performance improvementAssign tasks and responsibilities to ensure alignment with team and organizational prioritiesFoster a collaborative and high-performing team culture that encourages innovation and accountabilityWhat We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business or related field15+ years of experience in account / strategy role(s), with experience in the automotive industryExpertise in identifying and interpreting customer needs, analyzing performance data, and developing customer-centric strategiesProven success in marketing planning, CRM, and/or CLM strategies with measurable resultsExperience managing and developing teams in a collaborative, results-driven environmentAbility to think customer-first, with a strong understanding of digital trends and digital integrationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating and presenting impactful client presentationsExperience working with and leading team members in a hybrid/remote environmentHighly organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentCollaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments and builds consensus effectivelyAdaptable and innovative thinker with a proactive approach to solving challenges and seizing opportunitiesWhy DCI:
