**POSITION DETAILS**
The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program). True to its legacy of access, opportunity, and community transformation, the medical school’s mission remains to recruit highly talented students as diverse as New York City itself. CUNY SoM places a special emphasis on the recruitment of those who are underrepresented in the field of medicine and on training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare needs of New York’s medically under-served communities. As a major priority, CUNY SoM also seeks to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to more closely reflect the diversity of our student body.
The SoM is currently seeking Director of Student Success & Accessibility Services. TheDirector of Student Success & Accessibility Services will provide leadership, coordination, and management to all areas of the division's student success programs including program and staff supervision to meet the needs of students. The Director of Student Success & Accessibility Services is responsible for cultivating and fostering a community that is grounded in best practices for student success, including culturally responsive pathways for student achievement, perseverance, completion, and career readiness. They collaborate with leadership in Enrollment Management and Student Life to enhance the student experience by designing and implementing an integrated and comprehensive organizational plan that meets the needs of a diverse student population. The Director of Student Success & Accessibility Services duties include but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with SoM leadership to promote an environment of inclusion, accountability and superior customer service in support of shared goals for student success to enhance graduation rates; Maintains a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) in all student services activities seeking to close institutional performance gaps and expand student success.
+ Oversees campus-based supportive services and programs for students with various supportive needs, serves as a subject matter expert and campus liaison, and participates in university wide campus-based committees and initiative; Collaborate with internal and external partners to facilitate interim and supportive accommodations.
+ Meet with and support students, assessing well-being and support needs, preferences and abilities to develop tailored care plans;Connect students to the supports that they need to overcome challenging situations, and also oversees the SoM's student conduct investigation and adjudication processes.
+ Work closely with CUNY and SoM resources and support networks to put care plans in place; Monitor student's progress and make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes; Perform intake interviews to collect brief descriptions of concerns and communicate possible courses of action with students, faculty and staff, including sharing various resources.
+ Collects and analyzes relevant program and medical education outcome data, (tracking office usage, satisfaction with initiatives, and impact on student retention and success); Prepares relevant reports based on program activities and services, and develops other related communications.
+ Develop and manage assessment tools for individual student needs and academic accommodations, learning strategies, and environmental adaptations and auxiliary aides; Consult with professors and support program offices to collaboratively solve accessibility-related student problems in a timely manner.
+ Assess, create and implement successful methods of support to students who are managing complex situations impacting their well-being and/or the well-being of others; Develop in-person and virtual resources, training, and outreach to ensure students, faculty and staff have the tools and information needed to make appropriate referrals.
+ Develops and oversees transition programs for various student cohorts (e.g. transfer, international, undeclared students, probation, etc.); Serve as a point of contact for students and other members of the SoM community to support students in distress; Establish and maintain student/client confidentiality using FERPA.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or designee.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Master's Degree in Counseling, Education or a related field, and eight years' experience in the planning and development of training programs, personnel administration, or student development, including three years in an administrative/supervisory position.
+ Exceptional oral and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
+ Experience providing training to academic advisors.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of programs/services which promote student persistence.
+ Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
+ Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and student information management systems, such as GRADES FIRST, CUNYfirst/Campus Solutions, Degree Works, and Early Alert on-line system.
+ Flexibility and occasional evening/weekend hours may be required.
+ Experience working with underrepresented in medicine, low-income, and marginalized students working in health-related or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and Medicine) fields or other health professional pipeline programs is highly desirable.
+ Experience with quality improvement principles as it relates to health care disparities to improve the quality of medical education and health professional decision making.
+ Advanced understanding of the importance of diversity in academic medicine and the impact of educational and health care disparities on medicine.
+ Experience working with and developing others including Physician Assistants.
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Directs a comprehensive student support program.
- Develops, recommends, and implements program goals and objectives to meet students' specialized needs and develops a range of responsive programs
- Oversees the integration of diverse services with internal and external partners to meet a broad range of student needs
- Collaborates with academic and student support departments to ensure students are utilizing available services and programming; collaborates with counselors, mentors, and others assisting students
- Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes, recommending program improvements; writes proposals and reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Directs all service operations, facilities, and staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
Salary range: $83,878 - $141,858
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
