Our purpose is to support community members in times of crisis; foster a safe and welcoming community; identify and respond to people of concern; prevent, assess, and manage threats to community safety; and provide resources to community members. Support and Safety Assessment oversees Tell Someone, the Student Consultation Team, Employee Consultation Team, the Security Clearance Program, and the Campus Safety Screening Program. The Office of Support and Safety Assessment collaborates extensively with other units across the University to create and implement policies, processes, and programs that support educational and professional success, safety, and equity for all members of the University community. Position Summary This is an executive position in the Safety and Risk Services area within University Operations at Colorado State University ( CSU ), dual reporting within the Divisions for Student Affairs and University Operations. The Director is a full time Administrative Professional with responsibility for overall management of the Support & Safety Assessment Office, including behavioral assessment and intervention programs, biosafety, radiation safety, and Defense Security Service security clearance programs, and the Campus Security Screening Program. The Director collaborates with multiple campus administrators in support of university-wide initiatives and strategic planning for safety, threat assessment, policies, and processes that affect all units and locations, advising senior administration in both proactive and responsive measures to achieve the University’s goals. This position oversees and assists with implementation of several University policies, including Violence in the Workplace; Workplace Bullying; Consideration of Disciplinary or Criminal History of Applicants and Students; Referral for Psychological Assessment and Involuntary University Withdrawal, and the Protection of Minors. The Director has the authority to implement interim safety measures for students and employees of concern, including Campus Exclusion and recommendation of separation from the University. This position serves in a leadership role in assisting the Vice Presidents for University Operations and the Division of Student Affairs with multiple Division and University-wide responsibilities including the Public Safety Team, chair of the Student and Employee Consultation Teams, Insider Threat team, Incidents of Bias Team. Manage implementation of special project funds to support campus health and safety programs, resulting in $1.5 million permanent base funding for mental health, substance abuse, resiliency, and interpersonal violence programs. Provide vision and leadership for Support & Safety Assessment Program, including operational oversight of office and staff related to tracking incidents of human-related threats, violence, distress, and crisis for students, employees, and faculty. + Personnel management, recruitment and hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, promotion, and discipline. Build community and a climate of support for staff through leadership, communication, and personal interaction with staff, students, and other constituent groups. + Strategic oversight of $500K annual departmental budget and a $1.5m multi-departmental budget that gets disbursed to 8 different departments within 3 divisions. + Develop and maintain positive working relationships with on-campus affiliates and community partners to promote collaboration and cooperation with University policies and processes.
