Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Project Manager will report through Information Technology Services (ITS). While this position has supervisory duties over project management, it will also be responsible for project management duties.

Broadly, this position will be focused on ensuring our project management efforts produce results as we process a pipeline of key business and IT initiatives. The individual in this position will ensure that all assigned work gets properly prioritized, resourced, and completed on-time and within budget.

This position will work collaboratively with ITS and university leadership to help ensure that we deliver technologies that align with strategic objectives and operating needs. Position Summary The position will be responsible for leading complex multi-disciplinary projects that deliver solutions achieving strategic business objectives. This role establishes and controls project management processes for managing scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables. This includes defining and applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, and risk management across project management activities.

The position leads strategically important, high-impact, projects with technical components that require an interdisciplinary understanding of technology and its use in a dynamic and complex campus. This covers a broad range of work from infrastructure (servers and networking) to enterprise software (changes to systems like ERP, productivity, etc. as well as releases of new capabilities with broad impact). The project manager will provide day-to-day direction to cross functional teams in these efforts.

In addition to these responsibilities, this position will oversee the work of other project managers who are also leading their own projects. In this capacity, the director maintains accountability for the quality of our project management practice by aligning methods and measures with best practices in support of the direction set by senior campus leadership. The project manager will provide regular status updates to campus leadership across strategic initiatives.

Preferred qualifications for this position include: PMP or equivalent certification Experience as a Technical PM Team lead Management experience Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and with Google Docs and Box applications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in management, Business Administration, Operations, or related subject area, or acceptable combination of education/experience 7-10 years of experience in project management 1-3 years of management experience Experience with supporting enterprise financial operations (e.g., financial planning and budgeting, accounting, procurement services, etc) Experience with project management methodology and frameworks Experience with managing cross-functional teams that support enterprise-wide capabilities. Drives project documentation, creates status reports, and manages change control processes. Forecasts issues and status, and monitors task completion and milestones relative to the plan. Identifies roadblocks, performs research into project-related issues, and makes recommendations to change plans to reduce risk or get the project back on track. Procures and assigns resources to project tasks and adjusts as needed. Coordinates communication across cross-functional teams and enables strong collaboration between team members and clients.
