Position Overview: The Director of Technology Operations & Security is a senior management position responsible for providing leadership and direction to the organization's IT department.
Reporting Structure: Reports To: VP of Technology Operations & Security. Regular communication and collaboration with executive leadership and other departments are essential.
Responsibilities:
+ IT Operations Management - Oversee the day-to-day operation of the IT department, including helpdesk support, network administration, and system maintenance. Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of IT systems and infrastructure. Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards to support business operations.
+ Technology Planning and Strategy - Collaborate with executive leadership to develop IT strategies that align with business goals and objectives. Identify and evaluate technology solutions that can improve efficiency, productivity, and innovation. Develop and maintain a technology roadmap to guide IT investments and initiatives. Project Management and Delivery - Manage IT projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management. Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and prioritize deliverables. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
+ Vendor Management and Procurement - Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and contractors. Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure cost-effective and reliable IT services. Evaluate vendor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
+ Staff Development and Leadership - Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. Develop training programs to enhance the technical skills and competencies of IT staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the IT department.
Performance Metrics:
+ IT Operations Performance - System Uptime: Percentage of time IT systems and infrastructure are operational and available. Incident Response Time: Average time taken to respond to IT incidents. Incident Resolution Time: Average time taken to resolve IT incidents. Helpdesk Ticket Resolution Rate: Percentage of helpdesk tickets resolved within the defined service level agreements (SLAs).
+ Technology Planning and Strategy - Strategic Alignment: Degree to which IT initiatives and strategies align with business goals and objectives, measured through executive leadership feedback and business outcomes. Technology Roadmap Progress: Percentage of initiatives and projects completed as per the technology roadmap.
+ Project Management and Delivery Project Completion Rate - Percentage of IT projects completed on time and within budget. Project Success Rate: Percentage of projects that meet defined success criteria, including scope, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction. Budget Adherence: Degree to which IT projects and operations adhere to budget constraints.
+ Vendor Management and Procurement - Vendor Performance: Evaluation of vendor performance based on compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations. Cost Savings: Achievements in cost savings through effective vendor negotiations and procurement strategies.
+ Staff Development and Leadership - Employee Satisfaction: Employee satisfaction scores within the IT department, measured through surveys and feedback. • Staff Retention Rate: Retention rate of IT staff, indicating job satisfaction and a positive work environment. Training and Development: Percentage of IT staff who have completed training programs and achieved professional development milestones.
+ Innovation and Continuous Improvement Process Improvement Initiatives - Number and impact of process improvement initiatives implemented within the IT department. Adoption of New Technologies: Rate of adoption and integration of new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
+ Communication and Collaboration - Stakeholder Satisfaction: Satisfaction levels of internal stakeholders with IT services and support, measured through surveys and feedback. Collaboration Index: Degree of effective collaboration with other departments and executive leadership, evaluated through feedback and collaborative project outcomes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred. • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT management roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position. • Strong technical expertise in IT infrastructure, systems, and operations. • Proven track record of successful IT project management and delivery. • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
