Shenandoah University is seeking qualified individuals for the 12-month benefit position of Director of the Wilkins Wellness Center on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
Wilkins Wellness Center (WWC) is an ambulatory, acute-care facility that provides healthcare services to Shenandoah University students.
The director of WWC will be an advanced practice RN who can practice independently in the state of Virginia. The candidate will have a deep level of knowledge in community health and wellness.
The director of WWC will direct, oversee, and lead the daily operations of WWC, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Additionally, the director will provide health education to the campus community. The director supervises the WWC staff. The director is responsible for policies and procedures and serves as a leader during campus-wide health- related concerns and emergency response needs. The director of WWC provides strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation of the unit.
The director of the WWC center reports to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students and is a participating member of the Student Affairs leadership team and care team.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Planned, supervised, and provided day-to-day operation of the comprehensive student health services program by providing clinical care and treatment.
+ Provide clinical guidance to the health services team.
+ Provide consultation services as appropriate and refer students to appropriate health providers, agencies, and services.
+ Hire, train, and evaluate WWC staff, and coordinate with health professional programs, clinical interns, and rotations to provide clinical experiences for health profession students.
+ Oversee contracted services and vendors and work with administrative assistance to ensure supplies, services, medications, and other necessary treatment services are in place for center operations.
+ Manage budget for WWC.
+ Develop educational programming, workshops, and health education experiences for the SU community.
+ Conduct program needs assessment and formulate and implement policy development and practices to primary effective operations.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA standards, and other regulatory requirements.
+ Supervise and direct health-related testing and administer prescription medication according to established treatment guidelines.
+ Supervise student health form processes, including immunization records, and support health profession programs with various testing and record requirements for student clinical rotations.
+ Evaluate and serve in leadership for the student medical withdrawal processes.
+ Provide health services and guidance to all Shenandoah campuses (Winchester, HPB, and Loudoun).
+ Serve on campus-wide committees that relate to student wellness and student success.
+ Maintain current licensure and DEA numbers in Virginia and comply with all rules and regulations governing the scope of practice of an independent APRN.

+ Significant clinical experience (including public health and/or experience in general health, gynecology, urgent care/emergency care.
+ Demonstrated experience in maintaining student health records and mandated health and privacy requirements.
+ Experience managing business operations.
+ Knowledge of patient care and the administration of emergency/first aid and triage practice methods.
+ Supervisory experience over clinical and administrative support staff.
+ Doctorate of Nursing Practice preferred—Master’s of Science in Nursing Required.
Required Qualifications:
+ Nurse practitioners with prescriptive authority, also known as advanced practice RNs, have licensure to practice independently of physician supervision in Virginia.
+ License must be in good standing with no prior infraction or sanctions.
+ 5+ years in family practice, emergency/urgent care setting, and in-office experience.
