Director of Training & Professional Development

The Director of Training & Professional Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining all elements relating to training & professional development at DDI while ensuring compliance with agency & state requirements. This position will assess organization-wide developmental needs to drive initiatives in support of DDI’s strategic plan. They will partner with organizational leadership to identify and arrange suitable training solutions to ensure that their training & professional development goals for their staff are being met. In conjunction with the Training & Professional Development Department, this position will be responsible for creating and implementing an expansive and exciting training & professional development curriculum at DDI, with availability that meets the needs of all employees.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 / year

Responsibilities:  Develop and lead a system to organize, maintain, support, and monitor agency-wide training & professional development opportunities by ensuring compliance with required trainings and working with organizational leadership to identify professional development opportunities for employees based upon program, employee, or agency needs.   Provide supervision to the Training & Professional Development Coordinators, and ensure they are tracking compliance and implementing curriculum in line with the goals and objectives of the agency and the programs in which they are providing support.  Serve as a key strategic partner to the Director of Human Resources and other Senior Managers to develop strategies and make recommendations on professional development opportunities.  Develop a professional development curriculum that supports DDI’s strategic plan and provides opportunities for employees who are interested in pursuing a career path at DDI.  Manage the annual training & professional development budget and ensure it is being used and reconciled appropriately.  Oversee training calendars for each program and ensure that opportunities are being scheduled in alignment with programmatic and employee needs.  In partnership with the Training & Professional Development Coordinators, evaluate the effectiveness of training & professional development opportunities being offered throughout the agency.  Continually review training methods to ensure we are distributing information to employees in the most efficient, effective, and innovative way possible.  Develop and oversee a successful mentorship program that aligns with the needs of the programs & the organization.  Work with the Assistant Director of Human Resources, and the Manager of Employee Relations to identify areas where additional training and/or professional development is needed on a program or individual employee level, identify the appropriate resource(s) needed to provide or conduct the training and/or professional development opportunity and ensure the training and/or professional development opportunity is completed and logged appropriately in DDI’s learning management system.   Oversee DDI’s learning management system & ensure the information contained in the system is accurate and employees are leveraging the system appropriately.  Oversee the agency’s new hire central orientation & ensure all modules are up to date and engaging.  In partnership with the Training & Professional Development Coordinators, oversee the regulatory compliance of re-certification of staff in AMAP, SCIP, OSHA, CPR, First Aid, etc.  Ensure managers, supervisors and others involved in training and professional development initiatives within the programs are distributing information in a consistent, effective, efficient, and innovative manner.  Oversee DDI’s internship program and ensure we are continually strengthening our relationships with local colleges and universities.  Ensures all training communications are appropriate, informative and in line with DDI’s communication strategy.  Ensures confidentiality of all employee and agency information, as applicable.  Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years’ experience in organizational training & professional development. Ability to present and speak in front of groups.  Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize the Microsoft suite of products as well as the Learning Management System.  Ability to multi-task; detail oriented; professional demeanor Must be able to work independently and prioritize assignments based upon urgency.  Effective verbal and written communication skills.
