As a Director of Underwriting, you will guide a team of underwriters managing large accounts, fostering revenue growth through established broker connections and exploring new business avenues. This position involves managing a skilled team, facilitating negotiations, finalizing agreements, and actively engaging in talent development and performance assessment to build a successful underwriting unit.
Responsibilities:
Manage profit and loss for the department.Drive top-line growth through existing broker relationships and new business opportunities.Develop and build pipelines to enhance revenue streams.Oversee direct reports and engage with them daily.Handle performance management, day-to-day inquiries, recruitment, and compensation decisions.Adopt a strategic approach to people management and business development, including the integration of specialists into the team.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years experience in Commercial P&C Underwriting, 5 years in leadership.Strong knowledge of commercial underwriting and established broker distribution network.In progress with or designated in CIP or CRM.Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
