+ Job Summary :
+ The Director assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for nursing care in the areas of responsibility. The position requires knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, leadership in administration, principles of effective teaching, learning and mentoring, fiscal management, and effective interpersonal relationships and communication. The Director through oversight of the manager, assumes responsibility for care of patients as they move through the areas of responsibility and into their next level of care. Provides leadership and support to manager, providers, nursing and support staff to ensure best outcomes in high quality, compassionate patient and family care. The Director works with the manager, medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively. The Director ensures development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives. In collaboration with Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, manages all aspects of the Duke affiliation, including clinical research program. Responsible for oversight of Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation activities and ensuring ongoing adherence to CoC standards.
+ Education :
+ Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, Master’s degree (Nursing, Healthcare Administration or Business Administration) or equivalent work experience required .
+ Registration/Certification/Licensure :
+ Maryland State RN licensure.
+ Oncology nursing certification required (OCN)
+ Current certification to adminisiter chemotherapy required. .
+ Experience :
+ At least three (3) years of related management experience in cancer program management and three years direct oversight and responsibility for management of an infusion center.
+ Other Requirements :
+ Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
+ Experience leading, motivating and developing others, managing fiscal resources. Strong interpersonal and communications kills (written and verbal). Strong analytical ability for problem solving, developing goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Strong planning, visioning, and strategic thinking skills. Skilled in computer applications (Office, Powerpoint, Excel), electronic medical record systems, and other business applications (budget, productivity, quality, analytical tools).
