**Purpose**
This position is accountable for the leadership of the GWO OTC Confirmations department. This position is responsible for all aspects of the team’s operation including managing compliance, operational risk, expenses, and customer service, and also contributes to the strategic direction of the department, helping ensure alignment with GWO and GBM goals and in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
**Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:**
+ Deliver the transformation of the GWO organization with respect to OTC Confirmations. Directs the development and execution of the strategic plan for implementation within GWO.
+ Provide leadership, set strategic goals and provide direction to the various teams within GWO OTC Confirmations, including the development of short- and long-range business plans and the evaluation of the immediate and longer-term resource requirements.
+ Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors to communicate vison/values/business strategy, and manage succession and development planning for the team.
+ Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
+ Lead the implementation of tactical and strategic solutions and initiatives by successfully communicating the vision of GWO and bringing others to share it.
+ Drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
+ Build an effective supervisory environment driven by risk reporting and data analytics to mitigate operational risk and drive excellence in client service.
+ Develop and manage processes and procedures to ensure key controls are at acceptable levels.
+ Manage relationships with internal stakeholders for project delivery, collaboration and issue resolution.
+ Reduce operational and reputational risk by maintaining efficient standardized automated processes.
+ Escalate issues in a timely manner to drive effective resolution and mitigate risk.
+ Ensure all applicable governance, compliance, risk policies and procedures are adhered to and a mechanism exists to promote escalation by staff where appropriate
+ Reassess, re-calibrate, and promote alignment to ensure consistency in geographical locations, and adoption of industry best practices.
+ Confirm SOPs are in place, reviewed regularly, used by the team and maintained up to date.
+ Participate in and coordinate projects and initiatives within the business line or across GWO aligning to overall strategic and regulatory objectives.
+ Motivate staff, manage performance, execute a robust training plan, and assign workloads fairly.
+ Conduct on-going coaching and performance conversations.
+ Manage resources to facilitate attainment of business objectives and development of high caliber teams.
+ Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
**Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:**
+ Strong leadership skills with minimum 10 years proven management experience within an operational environment.
+ Relevant Scotiabank and/or industry experience in OTC derivative confirmations.
+ A thorough understanding of wholesale banking operations and relevant regulations is required.
+ Strong knowledge of OTC derivative products, technology, and processes.
+ Adept at strategizing and implementing changes.
+ Strong business acumen, sound judgement, and critical thinking skills
+ Extensive experience interacting with senior executives and managing relationships with key contacts inside and outside the Bank.
**Work Arrangement:** This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
