Your impact
The Director, People Systems is responsible for developing and executing IT strategies that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and competitiveness of our HR/People systems.
As part of our team you will Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the company’s people functions and goals.Collaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for technological innovation and improvement.Lead the IT team in delivering solutions that support business objectives and drive operational excellence.Oversee the implementation and maintenance of people management systems.Ensure seamless integration of IT systems with HR, payroll, supply chain and time management functions.Optimize HR processes through data analytics, automation, and other advanced technologiesManage the development and deployment of HR support technologiesEnhance HR operations through the implementation of tools that improve our people processesCollaborate with the HR team to identify technology needs and opportunities.Lead IT projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Manage project teams, allocate resources effectively, and oversee project risks and issues.Build and lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members.Ensure the IT team stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies.Support and contribute to IT budget for supply chain and sales functions.Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring quality and value for money.Negotiate contracts and agreements with technology partners.Ensure all IT systems comply with industry regulations and company policies.Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and systems.Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.Develops and refines existing systems, and develops new systems, by understanding trends within a single field of knowledge.Recognizes the interconnections of data from a flow of real events within a system (or knowledge field, or discipline).Thinks about alternative means to achieve a goal by forming chains of hypothetical activities (if this, then that; if that, then the other).Generates and tests hypotheses within a single field of knowledge.Determines the difference between special and systemic cause.Prerequisites for your success in this role Effective in gathering requirements from the business users, knowing the appropriate options for SAP LoB modules for HR and be able to strongly articulate the pros and cons associated with each option.Must have strong business acumen.Can articulate technical concepts to an executive audienceHighly collaborative with ability to work well and interact with various departments throughout the organizationExcellent leadership skills, with the ability to generate stakeholder buy-ins and lead through influence at a senior management levelStrong verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate complicated concepts to non-technical audienceStrong project management skills, including experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, PMP).Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.Risk management and mitigation strategies for IT projects.Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing IT teams.Strong change management skills to guide teams through transitions.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and senior management.Understanding of the mining industry, including operational processes and regulatory requirements.Experience in managing relationships with external vendors and service providers.Knowledge of contract negotiation and management.Budget planning and financial management skills.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on SAP HR systems.Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale IT projects.Knowledge of HR optimization techniques and tools.Familiarity with HR risk management and sustainability practices.In-depth understanding of HR processes including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.Comprehensive knowledge of HR processes, strategies, and performance metrics.Experience in the mining or natural resources industry is highly desirable.Proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors (all modules).Your work environmentThe preferred location for this role is our headquarters in Denver, CO but qualified candidates in proximity to any of our operations or regional offices in North America are encouraged to apply as remote or hybrid arrangements may be considered.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $146,250 to 204,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
