Director Pre-Construction and Capital Cost Analysis

The Director of Preconstruction and Capital Cost Analysis acts as a key leader in the entire Medxcel capital work planning, forecasting, and acquisition process. This includes development, management, coordination, deliver cost analysis and assessment of the conceptual, preconstruction, acquisition, and post occupancy phases of capital projects with extensive internal and external client contact for Medxcel. The leader will be responsible for presenting summaries of this information to executives and stakeholders. The position is based out of the Medxcel Central Office located in Indianapolis, IN. The Director can expect to travel on a regular basis to the various sites for Medxcel. Responsibilities Engage with Medxcel’ s senior leadership team to assist in developing strategy, vision and business planning to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives. Collaborate with Vice President, Planning, Design, Construction and Energy (PDCE) to deliver programs and improvement initiatives that will ensure the appropriate cost structure, analysis, and exhibit the team’s value to internal and external stakeholders. Coach and mentor team members by providing feedback on performance and work habits. Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of subordinate preconstruction members and support staff. Establish and maintain relationships with internal, external, existing, and new clients. Attend and participate in business meetings, industry events, and conferences to promote Medxcel in the markets we serve. Participate in and assist in attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining top caliber talent. Communicate verbally and in writing at an executive level in regard to work products and efforts. Leads project budgeting through all design phases to Guaranteed Max Price (GPM). Leads project cost tracking through all design phases to completion. Leads development of assigned project initiatives that advance strategic goals, processes, and project delivery through consolidation, standardization, and optimization. Lead, review and implementation of technical standards, policy and procedure related to capital cost forecasting, analysis, cost breakdown, estimating, and related functions. Coordinates and maintains policy and procedural guidelines with director level team members. Leads implementation and maintenance of proprietary cost database, industry level capital cost structures, forecasting and analysis. Assures national standardized forecasting, estimating, analysis and reporting procedures are in place. Participates in preparation and presentation of proposals for internal and external new business clients. Collaborates with Medxcel groups including Strategic Planning, Real Estate, and Operations to develop, communicate and deliver Master Planning and Capital Program/Project business cases. Participates with internal and external leaders in the request for qualifications and request for proposal efforts for Capital construction partnerships. Develop, manage, plan, and lead the Capital Cost group strategy meetings on the approach to the forecasting, estimating, cost tracking, and analysis. Assure that potential risk factors have been assessed, evaluated for potential impact(s), presented, and reviewed with senior management prior to information distribution. Coordinates with all related Medxcel team members to assist in capital allocation spends. Participates in business partner reviews. Establishes and maintains all related contractual forecasting, estimating, cost tracking, and analysis language to be used in related Master Service Agreements. In collaboration with related Medxcel internal resources, develops and provides monthly cost analysis for all active capital cost programs, projects, and construction management field personnel. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field required Master’s degree in related field preferred License/Certification: AEP, AIA, CHFM, CHC, or PE required CEP preferred Experience: At least 10 years of progressive preconstruction, cost estimating, and cost analysis of construction cost and related activities experience in healthcare capital programs required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Commitment to client service Demonstrated leadership ability at the top tiers of an organization Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at the senior executive level, oral and written Demonstrated mastery of interpersonal skills at the top tiers of an organization Working knowledge of software applications and systems of capital construction cost forecasting, estimating and analysis that are current industry practice Working knowledge of software applications and utilization of BIM (Building Information Modeling) as related to cost analysis Demonstrated working knowledge of eBuilder or similar construction software/databases Demonstrated critical thinking and executive level problem-solving ability Demonstrated strong sense of urgency Demonstrated high level practice and knowledge of computer skills, including multiple cloud-based platforms Thorough knowledge of construction contract law, project accounting, project scheduling, and engineering Thorough working knowledge and understanding of project management control, record keeping, and analysis systems (scheduling, estimating, cost control, procurement, contracting and business development) Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply process improvement techniques Proven ability to lead and work within heavily matrixed organization Ability to travel 25% to 50% throughout the U.S., depending upon business needs Demonstrated executive and strategic level presentation of information in a summary storytelling format #MFMCORP #MFMLDSP #IND1
