Director Project Management
**Overview** The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IT project management. This includes research and implementation of appropriate project management methodologies; oversight of project planning, execution, and implementation; and ensuring alignment between projects and overall corporate strategy. This person is seen as the go-to person for information on all projects in the project pipeline. **Responsibilities** Responsibilities include, but not limited to: **_Project Management_** + Management of a team of Project Managers supporting all IT disciplines. + Research, identify, and implement appropriate project management methodologies, policies, and procedures. + Direct the preparation of business cases that clearly identify project scope, objectives, costs, and benefits. + Oversee the collection of end-user requirements and documentation. + Develop comprehensive project plans that include timelines, estimated costs, and resource allocation. + Prepare and manage project budgets as required. + Prepare contingency plans and monitor project progress to identify and manage crises as necessary (issues/risks). + Coordinate and monitor the execution of multiple complex projects. + Prepare to transition from planning to hands-on execution as situations demand. + Directly manage projects in the portfolio. + Ensure alignment between projects and existing business needs (portfolio prioritization). + Oversee the development, monitoring and evaluation of appropriate project metrics, milestones, and expectations. + Ensure adherence to project governance, project timelines, budgets, methods, and guidelines, and compliance with laws and regulations. + Evaluate and analyze completed projects to identify areas for methodological and procedural improvements. + Ensure the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) system Workfront is maintained and expanded within the PMO and external businesses. **_Communication_** + Direct the project reporting process, including the frequency and content of updates (status reports, dashboards, project documentation). + Regularly communicate with project managers to monitor project progress. + Act as point of contact for vendors, business partners, and other stakeholders. + Oversee timely communications of project management policies and procedures as necessary. **_Strategic Planning and Relationship Management_** + Participate in the development of the company’s strategic business plan. + Collaborate with the executive team to identify priority projects and estimate project budgets, timelines, key staff, and other resources necessary for successful completion. + Identify and present improvements to project processes and efficiencies to the executive team. + Develop and cultivate strong business relationships with end-user and other project stakeholders. **_Financial Management_** + Establish annual operating budget, demonstrating fiscal responsibility through meeting project and operating budget targets. + Monitor and evaluate annual resource utilization across multiple divisions to create appropriate allocations across a shared service environment. + Directs and provides guidance to managers to effectively manage resources based on budget constraints, program priorities and goals and objectives. **_PMO Human Resource Management_** + Oversee project assignments, scheduling, and task delegation. + Administer performance appraisals and provide mentoring and coaching to PMO team members. + Support professional development and ensure the availability of appropriate training and development opportunities. + Participate in the recruitment and selection process as needed. + Assist in training new hires as necessary. **Required Skills/Education** + Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university or equivalent work experience. + Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or equivalent combination of professional credentials and experience, preferred. + Minimum 10 years of progressive IT project management experience, including developing business cases, project budgets, timelines, and metrics. + Strong IT technical skills, including strong knowledge of business process reengineering software, testing strategies and tools, software development lifecycle (SDLC) and SAP. **Desired Skills** + Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple complex projects. + Demonstrated ability to liaise and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives. + Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. + Ability to manage shifting priorities and demands. + Ability to synthesize large volumes of complex information. +
