Director - Quality and Safety, West Hospital

The Director – Quality & Safety provides strategic, operational, and thought leadership to support Indiana University Health goals. They are responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Infection Prevention (IP) Program(s) within the Region, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, medical staff and senior leadership. This leader works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure measurable improvement in health outcomes, prevention of medical errors, and reduction of patient harm. This leader will direct, facilitate, and influence the alignment of clinical quality, patient safety, and infection prevention improvement efforts within the Region by promoting adoption of local and national benchmarking for best practices. The Director – Quality & Safety ensures active regional representation and engagement in IU Health System quality, patient safety and infection prevention initiatives.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be selected from a diverse pool and will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
• Physician, Pharmacist, or Registered Nurse preferred.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
• Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) is preferred, must be obtained within 3 years of employment.
• Requires experience with complex matrix organizations, building trusting relationships, influencing through indirect authority, and inspiring and aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve a common vision.
• Requires knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
• Rapid Cycle PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma or IHI Model for Improvement experience is preferred.
