The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

Within GRC, the Market Risk Oversight Group is the independent risk management team covering all financial risks undertaken by the Treasury function at American Express. The team’s core responsibility is to design and execute risk measurement and controls across balance sheet management areas, including liquidity risk, market risk, and capital management. The Group also oversees cross-functional treasury-led processes, such as Funds Transfer Pricing and Recovery and Resolution Planning.
**How will you make an impact in this role?**
The Director – Resolution Planning Risk Oversight will lead the independent second-line oversight program for Recovery and Resolution Planning and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in independent oversight of RRP across American Express and American Express National Bank (AENB). The Director will work closely with leaders across Treasury and GRC to ensure a high-quality delivery of Resolution Plan and Recovery Plan submissions with well-documented independent review and challenge. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to learn American Express from a comprehensive perspective while contributing to a key regulatory requirement.
+ Define the overall independent review and challenge approach for the RRP program and drive consistent execution of the oversight approach across multiple risk functions
+ Be the 2 nd line of defense point-of-contact for the RRP program by managing all communications with Treasury and coordinating effective challenge requirements and deliverables with risk leaders in GRC.
+ Ensure achievement of project objectives on time and in alignment with regulatory requirements
+ Lead and motivate project team members and risk professionals to accomplish goals while fostering learning and development
+ Engage with regulators, auditors, and other external stakeholders on RRP-related matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and addressing any inquiries or examinations.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ 7 years of experience in risk management, Finance, Controllership, regulatory or resolution and recovery planning;
+ Strong project management skills and end-to-end ownership, with ability to manage multiple priorities and ambiguity with independence
+ Excellent communication, collaboration and writing skills. Able to manage stakeholders in 1LOD and 2LOD at all levels.
+ Rigorous analytical and problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
+ Proven ability to translate complex and disparate information into comprehensive and cohesive messaging for senior leadership
+ Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to see the big picture, connect the dots and anticipate problems.
+ Undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Business Administration, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Facility with analyzing balance sheets of large financial institutions
+ Experience in preparing materials for committees, audit and regulators
+ Experience in capital management, liquidity risk, resiliency risk, or business and strategic risk.
**Qualifications**
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
