Director Software Engineering
C.H. Robinson is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead and expand our technology talent, overseeing our Digital Connectivity team. This team plays a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge connectivity solutions that empower businesses of all sizes—from small enterprises to the world’s largest global shippers. As a leader in this space, you will drive innovation, scalability, and seamless integration, ensuring our customers have industry-leading digital experiences. In this role, you will partner with the commercial business leaders across our organization to align on business strategy, define technology strategy, build and maintain product roadmaps, and deliver technology solutions that help us grow digital connections with our customers and supply chain partners. You will build and lead a team of software engineers, engineering product managers, API engineers, and technology service providers to deliver on this vision. This role can be base only in Minnesota, Chicago or Kansas City **Responsibilities:** + Understand and articulate the vision and set clear goals and objectives for the team + Build and maintain technology product roadmaps, strive for repeatable, scalable, and secure solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement and speed of delivery + Establish crisp measures and communicate the results and outcomes against our goals and objectives using those measures with leadership across CH Robinson through effective presentations and scorecarding + Apply Lean principles to continuously improve our processes and technology, driving toward faster implementation of connections while maintaining high quality and resiliency + Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse team to achieve maximum productivity + Cultivate a high performing team by building skills through coaching, mentoring, ongoing training, and development + Encourage creativity, promote collaboration without boundaries, and ensure delivery of our objectives + Be fiscally responsible, evaluate and manage the budget for your team and make recommendations that balance timely project delivery and cost-effectiveness **Required Qualifications:** + 7+ years of experience working in software development + 5+ years of experience leading people and demonstrated commitment to supporting their growth + Experience managing stakeholders at multiple levels of an organization, including independent communication with executives and regional/service line leadership + Experience managing a mix of FTEs and Contractors located in various countries worldwide + Experience managing a variety of systems integrations, including custom and COTS technologies utilizing APIs + Experience delivering software using agile methodologies + Proven track record of successfully leading software engineering teams that deliver high-quality software with a strong sense of urgency + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related technical field; or, 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED **Preferred Qualifications:** + Problem solver who takes initiative + Values a diverse and inclusive work environment + Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment + Proven ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and navigate under ambiguous circumstances + Experience working collaboratively to facilitate the delivery of world-class software We will review applications for this role on an ongoing basis and encourage all interested candidates to apply at their earliest convenience. **Compensation Range** $144,500.00 - $330,500.00 The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations.
