Director - Software Supplier Quality

This position has responsibility for leading the lifecycle of supplier software quality – from initial quote to end of life. This will include continuous improvement of engineering statements of work, supplier software milestones, supplier verification and validation and software release, as well as after launch supplier software support throughout the service life of the vehicles. This role will lead the integration of supplier partners into the common Ford infrastructure for DevSecOps.
This is a technical leadership position that has accountability for the scoping and delivery of Projects, Strategies and Objectives on time to plan. This Global Leadership position is an exciting and rapidly evolving space that requires adaptability and attention to detail.
The candidate for this role must be able to adapt in a rapidly changing environment and drive consistency of purpose for a complex organization. Prior experience in leading cross functional teams in multifaceted technical, legal and regulatory constrained environments is essential.
**What you'll do…**
+ Re-define a vision, strategy and set of KPIs for this function – for both the Ford team and measuring the supplier against their requirements and contractual obligations
+ Further develop a roadmap and roll-out plan working with other Ford stakeholders for the supplier quality strategy.
+ Drive data discipline and best practices through the organization.
+ Ensure projects and roadmaps are delivered robustly and on time.
+ Recruit, assign, develop and direct a diverse multi-disciplined skill team.
**You'll have…**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
+ 15 years working in an associated technical field of embedded software quality systems, within automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
+ Excellent communication skills both up and down the organization to achieve the desired results.
+ Performance Management: Experience in setting performance goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews for team members, with a focus on developing talent around the area of software supplier quality.
+ Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets for supplier quality activities, including audits, testing, and training.
+ Critical Thinking: Demonstrated examples of applying systemic thinking, logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify opportunities, alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
+ Organizational skill: Strong collaboration skills, clear and concise direction coupled with an ability to move within the organization to complete work and balance tradeoffs.
+ Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to performance metrics (e.g., build times, deployment frequency, error rates) and generate reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
+ Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex technical and organizational issues.
+ Risk Management: Ability to identify and assess risks associated with development initiatives and develop mitigation plans.
+ Understanding of Automotive Industry Trends: Awareness of current trends in the automotive industry, such as autonomous driving, electric vehicles, and connected car technologies, and their impact on embedded software development.

+ Supplier Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with software suppliers, driving performance and ensuring alignment with Ford's quality standards.
+ Change Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead and manage organizational change initiatives related to supplier quality processes and tools, including the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
+ Negotiation & Conflict Resolution: Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to effectively address supplier quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
+ Risk Management: Proven experience in identifying and mitigating risks associated with supplier software quality, ensuring the safety and reliability of Ford's vehicles.
+ Experience with Automotive Software Processes: Familiarity with automotive software development processes, standards (ISO/IEEE), and quality management systems as they apply to software suppliers.
+ Experience with APQP/PPAP from an electronics and software perspective.
+ Proactive Quality: Integrating software quality requirements into the milestone system allows for a proactive approach to quality management, identifying and addressing potential issues early in the development process.
+ Global Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a global team of software quality engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
