The Director Supplier Development Engineering is responsible for the strategy planning and execution of supplier quality activities across zebra technologies. The director will lead a global team by establishing a strategic disciplined and integrated function that proactively leads supplier quality activities for zebra's global product manufacturing partners and suppliers. The director builds and maintains relationships with key business functions and must be skilled at influencing can change management at all levels of the organization while operating in alignment with zebra's values.

 

*This position will be hybrid working from our Lincolnshire, IL or Holtsville, NY office- no relocation offered*


Responsibilities:

•Supplier Development organization. Develop and execute road maps and strategies to drive a multi year improvement plan resulting in improved customer satisfaction and efficiencies.
• Develop a high performance culture in alignment with business and people needs.
• Deliver team success through empowerment and accountability by modeling and coaching.
• Develop and leads execution of strategies to achieve continuous improvement in all relevant quality KPI's measuring manufacturing partners and supplier factory performance.
• Establishes a clear and consistent commitment to team and performance excellence leveraging
global priorities and engagement survey results. Sets a high bar for excellence communicates and motivates achievement. Has overall control of planning staffing budgeting managing expense priorities and recommending and implementing changes for the organization
• Cultivates a true culture of innovation encouraging teams to develop and recommend innovative new concepts and ideas for continuous improvement. Serves as a champion for change as required to enable success.
• Relies on industry and professional networks as opportunities to benchmark externally and brings knowledge of industry best practices to drive improvement leads cross functional efforts to drive a standard of excellence across the business. Recognized as an influential leader within zebra who develops strong relationships at all levels of the organization with a
focus on collaboration communication and accountability.
• Establishes strong operational relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to support New Product Introduction and production to drive quality improvements.
• Provide guidance and influence global product development teams on technology capabilities and roadmaps.
• Supplier development leader uses knowledge and experience to proactively identify quality risks and implements mitigation strategies.
• Drive proactive quality approach across Tier 1 and tier two partners focus on product and process variation reduction using Lean Six Sigma as a framework.
     o DFMEA/P{FMEA
     o Error Proofing
     o Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
• Leverages quality best practices and tools such as LSS and PFMEA in innovative way to drive for continuous improvement for the portfolio for both products in manufacturing and NPI. (in a highly outsourced manufacturing environment) 
• Develop robust succession planning strategies for the organization along with growing leadership capabilities of the team including in key strategic areas such as industry 4.0
• Establish and manage appropriate, meaningful strategic supplier relationships
• Standardize and digitize processes across the organization driving increased efficiency and
improved supplier quality.
• Ensure ongoing awareness of market technology/trends and proactively adapt organizational strategy.
• Influence senior business leaders to determine impact of changes to Supplier Quality
• Champion continuous and measurable improvements to the company’s Supplier Development processes.
• Serve as the senior subject matter expert developing and presenting recommendations to the greater organization.


Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline(Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, Software Eng. or Computer Science) or equivalent STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) based degree.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience leading a global supplier Quality organization
• People Leadership Experience(ideally large teams with strong ability to communicate across all levels of organization/ globally)

 

Preferred requirements:
• Advanced Engineering degree preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead transformational change and strong people leadership to create high performance, high accountability culture.
• People's person's - ability to build and develop strong internal and external relationships.
• Experience with strategy development and implementation.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities.
• Strong project and time management skills.
• Industry certifications, advanced problem-solving skills and Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black belt recognition a plus.
• Subject matter expertise in operational excellence with focus on SMART factory and factory planning, electronics manufacturing, operations management.

Salary: USD 153900.00 - USD 230900.00 Yearly


Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
