Role Overview 

Under the general direction of the Vice President & General Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing the strategic approach for the entire hardgoods supply chain including sourcing of raw materials, vendor development for finished products, global logistics, and vendor relationships.  This position will combine technical knowledge with leadership and strategic skills to coordinate all aspects of the supply chain.  The successful leader will perform job functions with high emphasis on ensuring smooth and efficient flow of goods, balancing economics to maximize profits, and ensures highly effective vendor management. 

 

The Director of Supply Chain will ensure reliable access to equipment, materials, and other goods needed to produce and deliver products needed to maintain a steady flow of revenue.  Responsible for ensuring the supply chain team remains aware of new developments in the field and respond effectively to limit the risk of supply chain disruptions. The successful leader will develop agile processes within the department capable of responding to changes in market conditions, quickly adapting to business needs, and remaining cost-competitive across immediate and long-term strategies. It is crucial to develop and maintain efficient systems and lead, motivate and train athletes to operate at a consistently high level.   This role functions with a hands-on mentality and can effectively manage multiple athletes and projects simultaneously.  Accountable for both product quality and sustainability compliance. This position is expected to travel both domestically and internationally.

 

how you will make an impact:

 

Direct responsibility for the success and alignment of all supply chain and logistics, including demand planning, raw material procurement, on-time arrival of goods, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and global logistics. Partner with senior leadership to align financial objectives with business goals and ensure financial performance supports overall company strategy. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to Senior Leadership, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), financial trends, and risk areas. Advise on long-term financial planning and decision-making for supply chain investments, capital expenditures, and cost savings initiatives. Collaborate with internal Operations and establish strategic vendor relationships with both existing and new potential partners that promote a healthy business model which allows for both revenue and profit growth improvement. Develops, implements, and leads supply chain strategies and processes for efficient material operations. Establishes key priorities and ensures that supporting athletes achieve deadlines to meet both customer and business requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and customer requirements.  Compliance extends to both product quality and sustainability. Accountable for adhering to cost reduction targets, overseeing demand planning activities, monitoring progress, increasing supply in-stock dependability, reviewing scheduled ship dates, and resolving cross-departmental problems. Develops an annual budget and aligns actual results to the current revenue trends and needs of the business, including favorable purchase price variances. Ensure existing vendor management has a secondary vendor available to protect against single-area risk of disruption for the business in both raw materials and finished goods inventory.

 

Demonstrate a strong history of negotiation tactics with vendors that create and manage healthy relationships while maximizing profitability for the business. Strategically manage and forecast demand across a diverse range of SKUs, adjusting to the depth of product assortments offered by the company including textiles, inks, and a variety of different substrates. Navigate and resolve complex challenges, including global logistical challenges, occurring at any stage in the supply chain, making data-driven decisions to achieve business objectives. Maintains a detailed understanding of the financial metrics including materials overhead, inventory levels, and their overall impact on the financial health of the company. Monitors and maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries that meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs, reducing risk of scrap, and maximizing inventory turns. Reports on current and projected inventory levels at both the componentry and finished goods levels, generating action plans to ensure company inventory goals are achieved. Aligns with Operations and planning schedules to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials that are used further down the process in manufacturing. Recommend improvements to be implemented that gain efficiencies in supply chain performance that directly impacts internal departments and customer satisfaction. Accountable to execute staff development, including succession plans for top talent, effective hiring and training of new athletes, and resolving issues as they arise in a timely and complete manner. Leads and understands the internal requirements of information to make educated decisions regarding product development including feature & benefits, margin structure, inventory investment, ROI, and lead time. Provide coaching and mentorship to develop strong future leaders for the business. Adheres to all Department and Company Standards, Operating Procedures and Safety Requirements. Treats others with respect and conducts themselves in a positive and inclusive manner daily.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

what you bring to the team:

 

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Logistics, with a strong track record of senior leadership. Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to pay close attention to detail. Must be able to travel effectively both domestic and international, previous vendor management travel experience required.  Excellent communication, supplier negotiation, contract management, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of supply chain processes and industry trends, including strategic sourcing, with the ability to define and understand technical details and information. Proven ability to lead through change, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a challenging fast-paced environment, both independently and as the leader of a team. Mature, professional, and high level of discretion is required.

Where You’ll Work and What’s required:

On-site role, located in Winona, MN office. Domestic and International travel up to 20%

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $175,000 which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
