**Overview** ABM Industries seeks a dynamic and experienced **Director of Sustainability and Government Affairs** to lead and manage the company’s sustainability initiatives and public policy strategies. This role will be critical in advancing ABM’s environmental, social, and governance objectives while ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and advocating for favorable government policies. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, subject matter expertise, and leadership skills to influence sustainable practices and shape the public policy environment. **Pay: $190.000. - $200,000.** The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. For information about ABM’s benefits, visit Employee Benefits | Staff & Management (https://www.abm.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/ABM\_2025\_Employee\_Benefits\_Staff\_&\_Management\_No%20Date%209.5.24.pdf) **Sustainability Leadership:** - Develop and implement ABM’s corporate sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals and commitments. - Develop ABM’s carbon reduction roadmap and integrate best practices on renewable energy procurement, vehicle electrification strategy, and any other energy reduction initiatives. - Support ABM’s governance framework for implementing sustainability initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate reasonable and relevant sustainable practices across ABM’s operations, supply chain, and service offerings. - Lead the development of ABM’s Corporate Responsibility Report, including the monitoring and improving sustainability metrics and reporting frameworks, in alignment with global standards such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD where we operate (U.S., U.K., and Ireland). Manage the internal and external verification process of the information. - Manage ABM’s submission to ESG ratings like Carbon Disclosure Project, EcoVadis, and MSCI and coordinate improvement action plans - Monitor emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements to position ABM as a leader in sustainability. - Partner with clients to enhance their sustainability initiatives through tailored solutions provided by ABM. **Government Affairs:** - Develop and execute government relations strategies to influence legislation and regulations affecting ABM’s business interests. - Represent ABM in engagements with policymakers, trade associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for the company’s priorities. - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels, providing insights and recommendations to the executive team. - Foster relationships with government officials, industry groups, and advocacy organizations to support ABM’s public policy objectives. **Stakeholder Engagement:** - Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for ABM’s sustainability and government affairs initiatives at conferences, industry events, and public forums. - Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, investors, NGOs, and community organizations. - Lead internal communications and training to promote a culture of sustainability and compliance within the organization. **Team Management:** - Build and lead a high-performing team of sustainability and government affairs professionals. - Provide mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities to team members. - Manage departmental budgets and ensure effective resource allocation. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. - 10+ years of experience in sustainability, government affairs, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. - Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies and public policy initiatives. - Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, climate change policies, and regulatory processes. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. - Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and organizational levels. - Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving meaningful change.
