Posting Number NONAC3466 Job Title Director - Translational Community Engagement Position Title Director - Translational Community Engagement Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Department Micro/Biochem/Immun (MBI) Position Summary The Director of Translational Community Engagement is a leadership role that bridges the gap between scientific research and community engagement. This role is critical in ensuring that scientific research directly benefits communities by fostering collaborative, inclusive, and impactful engagement strategies. This position focuses on ensuring that research findings are effectively translated into community practices, programs, or policies that improve public health or address specific community needs. This role involves collaborating with researchers, community stakeholders, healthcare providers, and policy makers to ensure that research outcomes are aligned with community needs and are effectively implemented. Here’s a detailed job description for this role: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience (2:1 ratio, 2 years relevant experience to 1-year post-secondary education) Proven track record of developing and leading multiple simultaneous community engagement initiatives. Proven track record of consistent community engagement within the metropolitan Atlanta area and surrounding rural communities is required. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in community-engaged research. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical trials or translational research studies. Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing personnel. Expertise with health disparities research and addressing social determinants of health. Ability to draft and navigate the process of IRB study and protocol management. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate. Ability to work independently and as a part of research team. High motivation and desire to be part of multidisciplinary group. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in public speaking and facilitation. Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations. Flexible work hours to meet community needs.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

Foster partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and leaders to support translational research goals. Act as a liaison between the research team and the community to ensure mutual understanding and respect. Assist in the design and execution of community engagement plans to enhance the involvement of diverse populations at highest risk for diseases-of-interest in research activities. Identify and engage key community stakeholders, including patients, advocacy groups, non-profits, and public health entities. Assist in the organization and facilitation of community meetings, focus groups, and workshops to gather input and feedback. Work closely with researchers to ensure that study findings are communicated in accessible, actionable, and culturally appropriate ways. Collaborate with academic researchers to co-create research agendas that are community-centered. Provide logistical and recruitment operational support. Devise community engagement and recruitment timeline to meet study enrollment targets. Execute study objectives effectively, on schedule, and within potential budget. Manage a strong logistical operation in the planning and execution of events and study enrollment. Provide training and support to researchers on community engagement best practices as needed. Collaborate with MSM Office of Marketing and Communications on creating campaigns for use and tracking of digital communications and social media. Stay up-to-date with required CITI training. Model behavior to promote teamwork, professional staff interactions, and a safe work environment. Directly manage a team of Registered Nurses, Phlebotomists, and Research Assistants for studies that support the Surgical Translational Science Center. Pre-Employment/Employment Requirements

Immunization

Immunization Requirements It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption.
