About this role

To Provide a standard approach to Underground Mine Engineering/Planning processes through standards ownership.  Hold accountable Newmont’s Underground Mine Engineers, globally, to follow the Mine Engineering standards through peer and governance reviews.  Actively supports the Functional Development of Newmont’s Underground Engineering talent.

Your role will consist of Create comprehensive Underground Mine Engineering standards and guidelines to ensure safe and standard methodologies are used in Underground Mine Engineering and perform risk assessments against standards.Develop and perform regular reviews of a technology roadmap for Underground Mine Engineering that outlines the standard toolset to be used, including evaluation, adoption and integration of new tools and systems.  Act as Newmont's technical representative with the various software vendors, alongside SCM and IT, to manage these relationships and associated software initiatives, vendor training, software module updates/implementation and collaboration with technology providers to customize solutions for mining operations.Collaborate with and support University programs to develop new technologies and solutions to mine engineering problems.Drive compliance with established safety and operational functional standards through various independent peer reviews of Underground Engineering work being performed within and for Newmont (including projects advancing through the Investment System).Collaborate with industry organizations to stay informed about global standard methodologies and best practices.  Conduct benchmarking studies and keep a database of KPI's to compare the organization’s engineering practices with those of leading industry peers.Regularly review and improve the Underground Standards and Guidelines, incorporating feedback from stakeholders, aligning with Industry methodology and accounting for technological advancements and regulatory changes.Coordinate with compliance officers to keep abreast of regulatory changes affecting Underground Mine design and planning.  Provide training to engineers and project teams on compliance and reliability standards.Conduct audits to ensure Underground Mine Engineering work complies with QAQC standards.  Manage the resolution of quality issues and document corrective actions.  Establish a feedback loop with project teams to discuss QAQC outcomes and foster a quality-focused culture.Develop effective tools for and report out findings from audits and reviews and recommend corrective or improvement actions which enhance the compliance, methodology and execution of future work.Work with the RMS team to approve all Underground Mine Engineering Standards and place in the Newmont Standards repository on Discovery.Fosters a climate that is inclusive and where team members feel safe to contribute, collaborate, receive feedback and coaching. The position is located in the Denver Corporate office, Australia Newmont locations, and open to other Regional Newmont hub locations 
The individual must be able to travel both domestically and internationally to our operating sites to interface with site leaders

The salary range offered for this role is USD $172,500-241,500. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
