EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To manage moderately-sized disability determinations activities and/or moderately complex programmatic support functions. LEVEL OF WORK: Manager. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Broad from the Disability Determinations Director or equivalent level position. May receive supervision from higher-level personnel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct over Disability Determinations Manager 1. May supervise lower-level personnel. LOCATION OF WORK: Department of Children and Family Services, Social Security Disability Determinations Division. Other locations may be approved by SCS. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Disability Determinations Manager 1 by the presence of responsibility for multiple, moderately complex program activities. Differs from Disability Determinations Manager 3 by the absence of administrative responsibility for the statewide Disability Determinations program. Assures that disability programs are accurately delivered to the public in accordance with federal, state and agency mandates. Evaluates the programmatic administration of the office to determine if agency objectives and goals are being met and develops corrective action as necessary. Formulates annual budgetary request and monitors expenditures to assure compliance with budgetary restraints. Monitors and approves the purchase of medical service contracts with provider physicians, labs, clinics and hospitals. Evaluates contracted provider performance for conformity with legal, program and fiscal requirements. Maintains working relationships with federal, state, and local agencies in the private and public sectors. Directs the development of written agency policies and procedures and assures their compliance with federal and state laws. Reviews proposed and enacted legislation to assess potential agency impact; prepares program and/or fiscal analyses of legislation. Advises agency officials of unusual problems and recommends corrective action. Maintains records, prepares reports and correspondence relative to the units assigned or the organization. Develops goals, objectives and strategies to effectively deliver required services. Directs special studies or projects. Represents the agency by participating on committees and task forces, providing information on agency programs to the general public, and participating in the development of resources in the region.
