Disclosures External Reporting – Director (AVP)

The Disclosures team within Glasgow Finance division is part of the global External Reporting team, producing Firm reporting in accordance with multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks. We have a demand for career minded individuals to join our team.
The team is responsible for preparing financial reporting disclosures of the Firm produced in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS as well as preparation of Financial Regulatory reporting for submission to a variety of global Regulators.
The team is a key contributor across numerous global projects that arise as new requirements are issued by our Regulators. We also invest in continual enhancement of our reporting processes through digital tooling as well as enhancing our reporting control environment.
The team works closely with a number of stakeholders across the Firm including Global Product Controllers for the Institutional Securities Group business unit, Finance Technology as well as Legal Entity Control, and the Accounting Policy Group.
The team currently consists of 8 members based in Glasgow within a collaborative culture and a positive work environment evidenced by average service length.

What you will be doing?
We are currently seeking a Director to join our External Reporting team. The role will report to a Vice President within the Glasgow team and will not have direct people management responsibilities. Outside of the production cycle, this role will input towards projects such as implementing evolving regulatory requirements and production process improvements.
The successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include:
· Preparing and reviewing Firm US GAAP and legal entity IFRS financial reporting alongside related Regulatory disclosures
· Preparing and reviewing commentary and analysis to support disclosures
· Monitoring progress against disclosure production timetables
· Responding to review questions raised on disclosures
· Communicating and escalating to line management
· Presenting disclosures and analytics to members of Finance Senior Management
· Building an understanding of disclosure requirements and Morgan Stanley policies
· Maintaining written procedures documents, ensuring key controls are in place
· Representing the organization with external parties including external auditors

What we’re looking for:

· Hold a CA/ACA/ACCA qualification
· Have experience of financial reporting
· Excellent communication skills
· Appreciation of escalation and risk awareness
· Ability to challenge issues and processes
· Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities
· Strong work ethic with an ability to take responsibility for completing tasks and working to deadlines
· Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
