This is a full-time 6-month internship (dates are June 14, 2025, through January 3, 2026).

What You Will Do

The Technical Design intern is responsible to support the execution of projects as directed by a salaried team member, focusing on the design, production, installation, and sustainment phases of work for their designated discipline(s). 

Assist with the Theatrical Design and Technical Production department through all phases of development, from initial analysis through sustainment support of multiple projects, and their deliverables, schedules, and budgets, including responsibility for coordinating and producing documentation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

Supporting Designers and Technical Directors in the execution of their duties for live shows, special events, and facility infrastructure. Frequent communication with Theatrical Design and Technical Production leadership to provide project updates, status, and analysis of requirements that might impact schedule/milestones as well as ongoing communication with internal and external partners to see all projects through successful timely completion.Coordination of project updates, schedules and reporting tools to track projects and contribute to cost tracking.  Coordinates and documents all design reviews for assigned projects.  Accountable developing and updating discipline specific paperwork as directed. Accountable for the development and/or review of proposals and estimating assumptions for the project’s schedule. Coordinates day to day project activities with business owners/stakeholders and other support and technical teams and providing oversight related to established department processes and standards for project teams. Other duties include research and assembly of semi-routine information on projects for Designers and Technical Directors and other senior management as directed in addition to follow up on all show elements to ensure all equipment/labor/services are secured. Position coordinates oversight of project execution with internal / external partners, organizes project updates, and presentations for partners and executives. Attend and document site and field acceptance testing reviews as directed.  Assist with and document sustainment reviews for entertainment venues.  May be called upon to conduct and document design reviews and give infield design direction as the proxy for a DLE Designer or Technical Director. 

Basic Qualifications

Experience in the Entertainment Industry working in theatrical design, technical production, show development, and/or operation of live shows/events.

Proven experience in schedule management and consistent on-time project deliveryAble to demonstrate creative problem-solving techniques to resolve project issuesDirect experience in managing key milestones for project successStrong knowledge of current department best practicesAbility to deal with multiple priorities and handle confidential informationStrong communication skills with demonstrated ability to reach across multiple lines of businessProven knowledge of the documentation process with the ability to identify end-user needsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment where everything is subject to changeAbility to provide leadership and work cohesively with the Project TeamWilling to work any shift including holidays, nights, and weekendsHighly motivated requiring minimal direction and follow upTeam player and possess a positive, personable attitude, and a desire to learnExtensive experience with special projects, detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, proven capacity to prioritize, and demonstrated ability to meet established deadlinesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, often under pressureComputer proficiency in discipline-specific software, Microsoft Office suite of programs, spreadsheet and presentation software, Outlook, and InternetProven strong analytical and administrative skillsProven ability to initiate, organize, and complete multiple tasks in a timely mannerHigh School degree or equivalent

Education

Junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in entertainment, technical theater, technical production or related fieldUnderstanding of the Walt Disney heritage and culture

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.Be at least 18 years of agePossess unrestricted work authorizationHave not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College ProgramBe compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelinesFully available Sunday through Saturday, for the duration of the internship, 40 hours per weekAble to provide/have reliable transportation to/from workPossess a valid US driver’s license and have the ability to operate a company vehicleAble to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internshipAble to provide own housing for the duration of internship program in Florida
