The PositionUnder the direction of the Assistant General Manager and using established procedures monitor drivers’ manifests to ensure trips are in logistical order and routes are running in a timely manner. Receives and responds to telephone and radio/Nextel calls from bus operators and passengers with accurate and clear information. Paid time off & vacation.Responsibilities:Receives and responds to telephone and voice radio calls from Bus Operators; provides callers with accurate and clear information or refers calls to appropriate staff for handling. Takes “Where is my ride” inquiry calls from passengers.Monitors drivers manifest for impossible or illogical trips and moves them in timely and logistical order.Responds to calls from drivers for assistance and directions.Understands service area to assist drivers in reaching their destination in a timely manner.Responsible for superior customer service delivery when dealing with drivers, passengers, and other personnel.Communicate and work in conjunction with window dispatcher to appropriately and safely direct drivers.Communicate cancellations and no-shows to drivers in a timely manner.Improve service productivity by consolidating trips on the day of service.Communicate route problems to appropriate personnel for review.Contribute to the harmonious working environment of all Transdev employees.Record/document any on-going driver issues to be relayed to contractors.Participate/contribute in weekly meetings to improve service.Comply with all Transdev Safety regulations.Assists with notifying appropriate personnel when serious incidents occur. Records and maintains late and cancelled service assignments. Assists with rerouting buses and adjusting bus headways in response to field conditions.Performs various administrative duties.Manipulate Scheduling software to maximize productivity.Identify problems and recommend solutions. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Work Schedule:This position must be available to work a set schedule between the hours of 3 am and 2 am. 24/7. Candidate will work full time and must be available to work an eight-hour shift five days per week and be available to report to duty as needed, 365 days per year including holidays. Occasional overtime may be required. Minimum Qualifications:Potential candidates interested in the DISPATCHER position MUST meet the following requirements: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Possess the ability to work with customers and co-workers with diverse ethnic backgrounds and disabilities. Experience using a personal computer is a must. Knowledge of two-way radio/Nextel/Walkie talkie or push to talk system.Scheduling softwareParatransit or fixed route experience as a driver or dispatcherHave proficient English skills both verbally and in written form.
