Position Summary:
The position is responsible for planning, coordination, and dispatch of all emergent and non-emergent air and ground transports. Individuals must be capable and comfortable providing exceptional quality and service to a wide variety of internal and external customers to quickly triage each request and dispatch the most appropriate resource. A constant awareness must be maintained of each ground and air asset to maximize the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of our teams and the patients we serve. Provides information and emergency notification to customers. Works with advanced communications systems. Practices continuous professional development and excellent customer service. Practices proactive operational support of the department. Operate within the scope of practice as defined by the New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the UNMH Dispatch Medical Director whom provides patient care guidelines and protocols. Function as a patient advocate while ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Serve as a role model to promote positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* COMMUNICATION - Communicate accurate information in a timely manner to appropriate departments and personnel
* COMMUNICATION - Answers and screens calls utilizing a multi-line telephone system, including transferring or holding calls; takes messages, communicating necessary information to ensure customer satisfaction
* COMMUNICATION - Receive emergency calls, dispatch appropriate teams, and record significant information
* AIR – Communicate and coordinate operations for helipad activities for landing and lifting
* SERVICE - Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high quality service, meeting or exceeding department customer service goals and expectations
* DATABASE - Update and maintain computer database
* DATA - Enter various data into computer and forms, verify data, make corrections and ensure accuracy
* DISASTER - Activate Hospitals disaster plan per policy in coordination with the Emergency Department, Hospitals management and the HSC
* DISPATCH - Dispatch and coordinate ground and transport requests
* DOCUMENTATION - Provide accurate documentation of flight-following, asset tracking, and dispatch activities
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Monitor and stock supply areas; maintain equipment as appropriate
* MEETINGS - Attend education sessions, department and other meetings as appropriate
* MONITOR – Asset tracking using multiple computer based platform
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* CUSTOMER/STAFF RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospital employees
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

Credentials:
Essential:
* Professional Certification or License w/in 1 year of pos
* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days

Physical Conditions:
