Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something. Apple’s Display Technology Lab Design and Management team is looking for a passionate, self-motivated Lab Manager. As part of the Lab Design and Management team you will be directly responsible for supporting the engineering teams with the care and upkeep of multiple engineering lab spaces. Your responsibilities will include equipment purchase, organization, maintenance, calibration, and support. You will help train engineers on equipment usage and safe working practices within the lab environment. Other areas of responsibility include Mac/PC host management, basic test fixture fabrication, and leading the continued organization, cleanliness, and environmental health and safety compliance of lab spaces. You will also coordinate project work with internal and external facilities and equipment vendors, author laboratory documentation, and clearly and concisely communicate updates to the larger team. We’re looking for a talented professional and leader who enjoys tackling tough challenges, taking initiative, and enabling world-class hardware engineering in a fast-paced and demanding product development climate.DescriptionDescription- Directly responsible for Display Technology Hardware engineering lab spaces - Collaborate with and support peer lab managers, partner in driving consistent lab capabilities across multiple sectors - Maintain and control access to lab spaces; own lab scheduling, space allocation, security compliance, facilities activities, safety compliance and general operations - Define, document, and implement lab policies and guidelines - Work with the Environmental Health and Safety team to ensure compliance and alignment to relevant safety protocols and compliance to local laws - Keep lab spaces clean and organized; improve lab space efficiency through continuous organizational and procedural/process improvements - Procurement, inventory, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory equipment, tools, and supplies - Support engineering test setup, execution, data collection, and documentation - Mac and PC hardware and software setup as related to lab equipment and testing - Support basic electrical and mechanical prototype assembly, debug, and modificationMinimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsThe ideal candidate is a capable technical generalist with relevant experience with most of the following:Minimum requirement of Bachelor's degreeLab Management experienceExperience with lab setup like: organization, management, and continuous improvementExperience with industrial health and safety risk assessments and safety protocol enforcementExperience with mechanical/environmental test equipment (thermal test chambers, small industrial robots/actuators etc.) and/or basic electrical test tools (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, DAQs, function generators, etc.) and/or experience with sensors and metrology equipment (microscopes, thermocouples, accelerometers, pressure sensors, etc.) and/or experience with basic fabrication tools (hand tools, drill press, band saw, etc); designing, assembling, and documenting basic test fixturesKey QualificationsKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with industrial facilities and basic equipment troubleshootingExperience with Apple product or other electronics disassembly / repairAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a very busy, sometimes chaotic environmentGo getter attitude and willingness to really commit to get the job doneEffective written and interpersonal communication skills, proven ability to work multi-functionally, harness the power of teamwork, and relate to technical partnersSolid understanding of MacOS and Windows configurationEducation & ExperienceEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $97,344 and $188,100 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
