Job Summary

The Distribution Center Supervisor NE (non-exempt) will be responsible, as assigned, for the physical operation of the Central Warehouse and its storage yard. They instruct, direct and supervise physical employees in operation of the Warehouse.

What You'll Do:

Coordinate, direct and supervise work and personnel assigned to achieve the most efficient use of manpower and equipment.Work with and supervise employees in the receiving, checking, shipping, tagging and storage of all material.Work with and supervise employees in the rearranging and locating of material for efficient operation.Work with and supervise employees in the issuing to and return of material from construction, maintenance and retirement work by operating departments.Advise Central Warehouse Supervisor in the interest of maintaining sufficient inventory to supply the demand of the operating departments and storerooms.Promote and enforce all safety practices to safeguard employees and the general public as they pertain to this function.Assist in training employees.Understand and apply the provisions of the labor agreement and/or the AEP Management Information and Policy Manual.Attend supervisory meetings when scheduled by management.Carry out, within the assigned area of responsibility, the Company's program of Equal Employment Opportunity, including its Affirmative Action obligations.Make recommendations and keep the immediate supervisor advised of the functions, activities and conduct of employees.Assume other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

Four years of experience, to include at least two years of satisfactory performance as a Warehouse Material Handler A or the equivalent.


Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate automotive equipment.Must meet all vehicle operation requirements, including obtaining and maintaining a commercial driver's license (CDL), as designated by federal and/or state law.Demonstrated ability to supervise employees; coordinate their work; receive, interpret and transmit orders; and to give instructions in a manner that obtains effective work results.A good working knowledge of the practices and procedures of the Company pertaining to receiving, issuing and storing material.A good working knowledge of material handling and storage, material handling equipment and the operation of forklifts, hand trucks and all other Warehouse equipment.Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.

What You'll Get:

$34.80/hour - $52.20/hour

$34.80-43.50 USD

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: H – Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
