Location Description Northfield, Minn. is home to two Post Consumer Brands manufacturing plants, the Campbell Mill and Ames Mill, two distribution centers, and more than 750 team members. The Campbell Mill plant is 1 million square feet and is home to 7 manufacturing technologies to produce a wide variety of cereal products our customers know and love. Northfield is a town steeped in history, featuring two colleges and the original Ames Mill where the Malt-O-Meal Company got its start. Responsibilities POSITION OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to ensure the dispatch teams are properly prepared to coordinate the unloading and loading of inbound and outbound loads to ensure outbound shipping schedules are maintained. This position will be the main point of contact with carriers and carrier drivers concerning loads being delivered to and picked up from the warehouse and provide proper load documentation on outbound loads. In addition, in the absence of the Distribution Center Manager/Supervisor, the incumbent will lend support to the onsite Team Lead for assigned site. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Help to develop an effective Dispatch Team to achieve expected business results. Leads Dispatch staff. Leads in coordination of Dispatchers to specific duties. Develops staff skills, standards, and morale through training and leading the monthly dispatch meeting. Leads in training, effectiveness, and scheduling of back-up dispatchers. Coordinates Dispatch staff benefit usage to ensure adequate coverage is in place to maintain business operations. Ensure that all company food safety, food security, and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times. Develop, document, and maintain procedures. Responsible for the on-time loading so that loads will be in a ready to ship status prior to the promised ready to ship time. Coordinate yard activities including spotter driver direction; trailer inventory; and work flow. Provide work direction to warehouse loaders. Assist loading crews – special loading instructions, inventory/load discrepancies. Adjust picks based on changes in information. Print bill of ladings and review for accuracy. Ensure carrier drivers have all required paperwork for load transport. Ensure proper load documentation is stored in PCB systems as required. Communicate with and manage inbound carriers and CPU drivers. Coordinate less than truckload orders. (LTL) Assist in pulling cases from inventory for sales samples picks, aged product sample and noncompliance returns to production facilities. Schedule pick-ups with partial carriers (such as FedEx and/or UPS) to ensure on time delivery to customer. Maintain the loading schedule, trailer list, and short product report. Provide to the management team as needed. Provide back up to the team leads during absences. Maintain dispatch board for accuracy throughout the shift; also perform door check each afternoon or before end of shift. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Work with customer service, transportation, production scheduling, and production to resolve shipment issues. Dispatcher may assist warehouse manager in ordering office and warehouse supplies. Use data and technology to make sound business decisions while planning and prioritizing daily shipping operations. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: Minimum of a high school diploma Additional training in warehouse/transportation or supply chain functions preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six months experience as a loader and/or shipping computer operator Supervisory experience in a warehousing environment. OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: Strong math, problem solving, and data entry skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, team environment. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers as well as the distribution team. Takes initiative to follow-up, problem solve, and complete duties in a timely manner. Knowledge of warehouse management system and distribution process flow. Understands financial impact of decisions related to warehousing and transportation. Must be flexible in daily work schedule to accommodate meetings and dispatch coverage that may occur outside of normal days/hours
