Distribution Designer
Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description In this role, you will acquire a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), national engineering standards, utility construction standards, and best industry engineering practices. You will gain broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, including design and constructability as applied to construction methods and materials, and the economics involved. Your responsibilities include maintaining the production and quality of projects, which encompass field data, photographs, engineering analysis, and various reports and databases. Responsibilities + Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages. + Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, including system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, and ground-line pole inspections. + Conduct field data collection using laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices for input into database software. + Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities. + Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and maintain pad-mount equipment. + Present ideas effectively in both formal and informal situations, communicate well in writing, and maintain proper ethics in email and telephone communications. + Keep supervisors and coworkers informed, sharing complete and accurate information with all levels of the organization and with outside clients and agencies. Essential Skills + Proficiency in distribution drafting/design. + Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting software. + Skills in distribution design, power distribution, and utility design. + Capability in power delivery and distribution engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Possess a higher education degree or equivalent experience. + Working knowledge of CAD software. + Willingness to learn and adapt. + Possession of a reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR. Work Environment This role will initially be remote with requirements to perform field visits approximately 25% of the time. There are plans to establish an office in the Greater Allentown Area, after which you will follow a hybrid schedule that includes in-office work. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
