Distribution Designer/Planner

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer/Planner located in San Diego, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities The qualified candidate should be familiar with the design and operation of utility electrical systems which they can apply their knowledge for developing new designs. Compilation of design packages for construction. Perform quality reviews of project deliverables. Occasional fielding/field data collection. Required Education/Experience General experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV) and/or strong familiarity with construction processes. Exposure to utility standards, NESC, GO95, and an understanding of construction techniques Must have strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills. Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process. Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Some travel expected. Desired Education/Experience A two-year technical certificate or degree is preferred but not required. Prior utility distribution design or line work experience. Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS); GE Smallworld, ArcFM, etc. Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training. General construction knowledge and aptitude Ability to work in design teams and take the initiative to learn the trade. Self-motivated to perform assigned tasks. Familiarity with Automated Utility Design™ (AUD), Autodesk AutoCAD, Maximo work management system is a plus.

Base Salary Range:  $55K- $70K

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
