Job Title: Entry Level Distribution Engineer
Location: Maitland, Florida
Job Description: Actalent is currently seeking Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join their team in Florida. This Distribution Engineer will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. The initial projects are in support of Duke Energy, with future projects from FP&L, TECO, and other utilities. The work involves engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles. Engineering calculations associated with these projects include structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform engineering calculations and design for power distribution projects.Replace deteriorating cables and move overhead lines to underground.Reconductor existing distribution lines and replace aging poles.Conduct structural analysis of poles and guying.Perform cable pulling calculations and electric demand analysis.Evaluate fault currents and coordinate protective devices.Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a 4-year ABET-Accredited College or University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).Basic knowledge of electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, design software packages, and general construction knowledge.Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and present findings.Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and initiative.Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate frequently with customers.Ability to work with individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership and/or customer interaction experience in a different industry (retail, restaurant, etc.).Experience on the Duke system, performing distribution design.Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects.Current knowledge of BOUD/Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation.EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam.Skills:
