Distribution Engineer
Job Title: Distribution Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking candidates with degrees in Engineering or Engineering Technology to work as Distribution Engineers and Technicians focused on energy distribution projects. These positions will involve working on the Power Up project, specifically related to electric power distribution and leadership, including make-ready and smart antenna projects. Training will be provided by higher experienced level distribution engineers.

ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices.Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition.Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and estimate project costs.Design and coordinate project development, with 90% of the time spent on design development and coordination.Spend 10% of the time in the field after several months on the job.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering for Engineers.Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with 1-2 years of drafting experience for Technicians.Experience with electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering.Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design.Knowledge of power distribution and energy systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsAutoCAD coursework from school.Work Environment

This office environment consists of Designer Engineers and Design Technicians supporting distribution projects. The open environment promotes teamwork and collaborative project work. You will be working in groups on projects for Duke Energy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.32 - $29.32/hr.
