**Job Summary** This position will provide Georgia Power oversight during the project development phases of Georgia Power’s Distribution Grid Investment Plan, ensuring that all engineering scopes and detailed engineering designs align with Georgia Power’s distribution design philosophies. This includes detailed reviews of construction prints and project estimates to ensure designs are estimated accurately and in accordance with Georgia Power practices. This role will also identify and alleviate any process design and communication inefficiencies, at the project level, to reduce project and program costs and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the distribution system. Georgia Power’s Distribution Grid Investment Plan is a 15-year plan focused on improving overall system reliability, reducing O&M expenses, and increasing customer satisfaction. This position will provide engineering oversight for hundreds of projects being completed over this timeframe (over $1B in investments), to accomplish our goal. Additionally, this role will serve as a leader during storm restoration efforts. **Job Requirements** + A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, with an advanced degree a plus. + Relevant industry certifications are a plus (i.e. PE License, PMP Certification, etc.). + Proven leadership abilities and demonstrated commitment to safety excellence. + A minimum of 5 years of distribution experience is preferred. + Extensive knowledge of Georgia Power’s distribution design philosophies, Distribution Bulletins, the Engineering Handbook, and other relevant Company guidelines is preferred. + Extensive knowledge of Georgia Power’s operating procedures is preferred. + Extensive experience reviewing and interpreting distribution construction drawings and estimating costs. + Working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) is preferred. + Experience managing O&M and capital budgets is a plus. + Experience working with contractors is a plus. + Experience with relevant systems is preferred (i.e. TCMS, ARCOS, JETS, CSS, ARMS, and DISTVIEW). + Proven record of dealing effectively with internal and external stakeholders. + Strong communication and presentation skills to internal and external stakeholders. + Influencer and champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, through words and actions. + Demonstrated ability to recognize high profile opportunities and respond, as needed, without prompting. **Job Responsibilities** + Review engineering designs during scoping and engineering phases to ensure that Georgia Power’s design practices are followed. + Provide necessary input to contract engineers during scoping and detail engineering to optimize the financial and reliability impacts of Grid projects. + Review construction prints and JETS estimates to ensure projects are being estimated accurately. + Optimize project designs to reduce project and program costs and improve reliability. + Develop presentations to present projects and status updates to management and various governing committees, as needed. + Exhibit behaviors in alignment with Southern Company’s values: Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance and Total Commitment. + Provide leadership during storm events, as needed. **Other Requirements** + Travel is sometimes required. + Must live in/near or be willing to relocate within reasonable distance to Fairburn, GA. + Relocation assistance available if needed **.** **Georgia Power** is the largest electric subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), America's premier energy company.
