Summary

Responsible for the safe, efficient and timely operation of the Shipping Department and Transport department. Directs and oversees the implementation, operation, and maintenance of automated shipping systems. Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Carries out policies established by company officials and policy manuals. Meets or exceeds assigned KPIs. Ensures that shipping employees are properly instructed in the care and safe operation of equipment. Promotes positive employee relations and interdepartmental communication and cooperation. Supervises activities of the Shipping and 3rd party transport providers. Ensures that products received from Production Department and from other plants are properly handled and shipped on schedule. Recruits and, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, hires qualified shipping personnel and drivers. Maintains communication with other department heads. Develops and maintains a close working relation with the contracted shipper. Establishes and maintains Safety Programs and safe operating procedures and monitor employee compliance. Contributes to and protects company profits. Assists in preparing and evaluating operating budget. Maintains cleanliness of work area. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.) Perform other duties as directed by supervision. Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures. Ability to wear and use approved, applicable safety equipment, as needed. Must meet/maintain FDA and CDC food handling requirements and other governmental and/or customer requirements. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Desired Experience

Two (2) or more years experience as Shipping Superintendent.

Desired Education

High School diploma or equivalency. 

Completion of formal management skills training program.
