PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capability to lead a 24x7 Operations Control CenterOversee the operation of the power distribution system including voltage, device operations, safe clearance areas, and restorationStrong communicator both oral and written with highly developed interpersonal, training and computer skillsMonitor system performance and respond to outages and emergencies, ensuring a safe and timely restoration of servicesMake complex operating, engineering, and economic decisions involving the restoration of customer service following system emergencies and coordinate the distribution system effort with the Transmission Control Center, Grid Operations, and Lines DepartmentMust have the ability to make quick decisions on a minute’s notice and work well under pressureMaintains a work environment that promotes good customer service, striving to economically meet customer requests within the timeframe requestedMaintains a safe, professional work environment that offers employees challenging and meaningful work and opportunities to develop their skills by operating the distribution systemDirects the preparation and execution of contingency plans for operating the distribution system during natural disasters, civil disturbances, and in other critical situationsDirect, plan, and arrange work schedules to meet both unscheduled and regular workParticipate in long-range Company planning with other departmentsDirects departmental personnel regarding assignments; reviews records, reports, and analyses related to the department’s work; participates in such work as may be required to meet normal and emergency conditionsManage Distribution Dispatch and Operations office personnel representing the Company to the customer in all matters regarding Company business and operation of the customer’s service during those hours when the main offices are closedWorks closely with the Customer Service TeamForecasts a significant portion of the operation and maintenance budget and subsequent control of those expensesServes as acting Director of System Operations, as assigned.BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalentTen (10) years of related experienceUnderstanding of Distributed Energy Resources on electrical distribution systemsAvailable for all Distribution Operations shifts (24/7)Ability to work with people and have knowledge of industry practices relating to safe electric utility distribution system operations and the electric service restoration processKnowledge of the job functions of a trouble tech, line tech, switch person, service dispatcher, Transmission System Operators, Grid Operator, and line patrol person during normal and emergency conditionsGood problem solving and resource management skillsExcellent computer skills to include Microsoft Suite, Excel and AccessSelf-starter willing to work in a team environment and operate with a minimum of supervisionPREFERRED SKILLS:
