Job Purpose
Under general supervision, the Distribution Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of the Shipping Department, and performs the work of those supervised as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement and ensure compliance of safety procedures and policies, and maintain housekeeping standards. Plan and coordinate the activities of distribution associates to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Identify areas for improvement/change, involve associates in the improvement/change process, and monitor the effectiveness of the improvement/change. Perform administrative functions such as maintaining attendance records, conducting performance appraisals and counseling. Supervise activities through the planning and scheduling of work, and the review and approval of tasks. Review associates’ work assignments and performance development. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred 1-3 years of Supervisory experience Demonstrated Leadership abilities Available and willing to work any shift Able to work in a fast-paced multiple task environment Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access skills.) Must be a Team Player with excellent people skills. Must be able to read and write in English. Must be detailed oriented. Must be willing to work irregular hours and overtime as needed.
