The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). 

Job Summary

The Distribution Manager will supervise and provide leadership to warehouse associates and team leads assigned to a designated area while providing customer support to the Lafayette Large Engine Center (LEC).

This position is located in Lafayette, IN and relocation is not available

There are three shifts available: Monday - Wednesday 6:30am ET - 6:30pm ET; Monday - Wednesday 6:30pm ET - 6:30am ET; Thursday - Saturday 6:30pm ET - 6:30am ET

Distribution Managers may need to work outside the regularly scheduled hours due to increased needs of the business

What You Will Do

Supervises and motivates distribution center employees through effective coaching and training, clear communication of job expectations, and positive reinforcement of exemplary performance; maintaining a positive distribution center working environment

Determines priorities of daily workload

Focuses on providing exceptional customer support to both internal and external customers

Manages employee hours through appropriate time keeping system

Ensures operations meets safety, quality, velocity, and cost standards

Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities

Implements various corporate initiatives such as 5S, lean and 6 Sigma

Monitors and improves safety in the warehouse, eliminating any unsafe operations and ensuring a safe and clean warehouse environment

Makes workflow decisions under the direction of management. Improving service levels and costs for distribution center operations.

What You Have

Operational Functions: Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations

Coaching Others: Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts and methods; ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness

Customer Service Management: Knowledge of customer service priorities and ability to utilize tools and techniques for maintaining an environment where all understand and are committed to providing excellent service to internal and external customers

Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there

Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers

Top Candidates Will Also Have

Bachelor's degree in Management, Leadership, Supply Chain, Logistics or similar concentration

Parts Tracking Software experience

Workday, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) experience

Summary Pay Range:

$71,040.00 - $106,440.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
