**Job Summary**
Daily supervision and work coordination of relay technicians working as one person crew on the maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and installation of relays, supervisory controls, telemetry, and associated communications mediums for the capital and maintenance programs focusing on personnel safety and system reliability. Technical support to relay technicians to resolve issues found in engineering designs and protection equipment issues.
**Job Responsibilities**
Incude but are not limited to:
+ Daily supervision and work coordination of 6 to 10 relay technicians working as one person crew on the maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and installation of relays, supervisory controls, telemetry, and associated communications mediums for the capital and maintenance programs focusing on personnel safety and system reliability. Lead and motivate contract personnel to successfully perform maintenance and construction activities and maintain safety as a priority
+ Assist Control and Protection Engineers in the design of protection equipment installation and upgrades to account for field conditions; evaluation of new protection equipment; and provide engineering solutions for design issues
+ Technical support to relay technicians to resolve issues found in engineering designs and protection equipment issues
+ Prepares and executes maintenance schedules and testing procedures to insure proper operations of electrical protective devices, instrumentation and automatic control equipment.
+ Participate in supervisor’s 24 hour system standby schedule for protection related issues providing engineering responses to Transmission Operations, determining staffing for mitigation, and determining temporary/permanent engineering solutions until Control and Protection Engineering responds to ensure the operation and reliability of the electric system is maintained. Overtime expected as warranted to support system events and project work.
+ Manage projects to ensure they stay within budget constraints
+ Coordinate and commission the installation of new protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines to integrate within clearance restrictions while maintaining adequate protection.
+ Collaborate with various organizations to ensure the successfully completion of projects.
**Job Specific Qualifications**
Required
+ Bachelors Degree and 3 years' experience or in lieu of degree minimum of 5 years' experience in the in Control & Protection, or other areas of repair and troubleshooting electrical equipment in substations or construction of substations maintenance, repair and troubleshooting electrical equipment in substations, power plants, facilities and construction of substations.
+ Capable of interpreting engineering designs and modifies designs as required to ensure operating needs are met.
+ Reading and comprehending technical and operational manuals and instructions, safety rules, policies and procedures, and instruction manuals
+ Ability to read and interpret schematic and wiring diagrams.
+ In-depth working knowledge of electro-mechanical, microprocessor equipment and the associated protection schemes.
+ Supervisory experience relating to Union and or contract personnel.
+ Knowledgeable in Microsoft office Suite
+ Knowledgeable of all the Operating Instructions and General Operating Procedures regarding a Transmission and Distribution system.
+ Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
+ Must posess a valid US Drivers License and maintain a safe and satisfactory driving history
Desired
+ Experience working in a Union environment is a plus.
+ Knowledgeable of SAP asset look up
+ Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining agreement.
+ Relay Protection setting and design criteria
