District Resource Development Manager

General Summary

The District Resource Development Manager will be responsible for land and mineral resource identification, due diligence/property investigation, environmental assessment, contract negotiation, permitting, evaluating ownership structure, and identifying new materials resource opportunities (as well as the divestiture of assets) in Districts with more than $400 million in annual revenue to secure assets in support of our Materials growth strategy.

In addition to permitting new facilities, the role is responsible for revising and updating existing permits to ensure they maximize geological potential and economical value, and for evaluating reclamation plans and property holdings ensuring all options are carefully evaluated to optimize current and future value.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Resource Development:

Produce and manage the district’s annual resource development budgets and subsequent quarterly forecasts.Identify aggregate locations with vested rights or green field opportunities that support Granite’s market strategy.Lead the effort in perfecting our vested rights associated with all our active facilities within areas of responsibility.Ensure resource development projects are effectively executed.Prioritize and manage multiple projects based on long-term growth and reserve replacement objectives.Facilitate multidisciplinary teams including geologists, attorneys, real estate professionals, engineers, environmental professionals, and various consultants to secure aggregate reserves and to obtain permits and land use entitlements for future projects and plant operations.Consistently evaluate and modify our reclamation plans to ensure our end use is the highest and best value for the property.Ensure that reserve investigation and reporting activities are performed under the direction of Company’s Geologic Services Manager.Ensure all permits, leases, and other key documents are maintained in GRPS (Granite Real Property System).  Manage notification processes so appropriate managers are notified of significant dates related to our agreements.

Team Leadership:

Supervise, direct, and mentor the resource development project managers, and other direct reports.Partner with sales, operations, finance, environmental and other appropriate departments to prioritize development needs, projects, and other efforts required to meet company’s resource development objectives.Partner with the Director of Construction Materials Strategy/Markets to ensure all segment and district growth projects, as well as divestiture projects, are in alignment with overall materials strategy.

Coordination and Negotiation:

Communicate Pipeline of Resource and Geologic Projects including timelines, required resources, and expected costs in conjunction with the long-range CAPEX (Capital Expenditures) forecasts.Coordinate legal and conditional agreements with landowners and corporate stakeholders to ensure viability of purchase.Refine and execute entitlement, public relations plan and environmental review processes to advance Company’s “Social License to Operate”.Assist in market research and analysis efforts.Maintain and enhance Granite’s public perception through active community engagement and government outreach.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental, Engineering, Construction Management, Mining, Business, Marketing or equivalent experience.

Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States.

Base Salary Range: 

$164,026.00 - $246,039.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
