District Sales Manager - Iowa/Nebraska

Emerson Discrete Automation is seeking a qualified automation sales or business development candidate for a District Sales Manager performance-based role, located in Iowa/Nebraska. You will have individual ownership over an established marquee territory, with a dynamic customer base, and significant growth opportunity. This position will report remotely to the Regional Sales Director and be part of a regionally based sales team with inside sales manager support. You will engage with strategic customers and channel partners while working closely with internal business development, application engineering, and product marketing teams to form strong relationships with key collaborators at all levels. You will be a customer advocate both external and internal while developing a deep understanding of the customers' key goals and how Emerson can provide solutions to help meet them.
**POSITION SUMMARY:**
As a District Sales Manager for Emerson’s Discrete Automation Group, primary responsibilities will be to drive sales and promote automation solutions to industrial and process customers within your assigned territory. The business includes the following brands, Emerson Controls and Software, ASCO, Aventics, AFAG, Tescom, AGI, and TopWorx. Candidate will play a meaningful role in building and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and exceeding sales targets.
**In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:**
1. Sales Strategy and Execution:
+ Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans to achieve sales targets within an assigned territory.
+ Able to influence specification at OEM and key End User accounts
+ Prioritize revenue growth through value driving activities
+ Build and maintain a sales pipeline, ensuring consistent follow-up and closure of sales opportunities.
+ Collaborate with District Sales Manager peers inside a regional team environment
+ Coordinate internally with regional, national, and global contacts on projects, specification influence, and market initiatives
2. Customer Relationship Management:
+ Maintain positive relationships with existing distribution and key customers.
+ Understand customer needs, provide technical expertise, and offer solutions that align with their requirements.
+ Address customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
+ Negotiate pricing contracts and evaluate renewals.
3. Sales Reporting and Forecasting:
+ Salesforce CRM
+ Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of the competition.
+ Provide accurate sales forecasts and participate in the annual budgeting process.
4. Industry Knowledge and Product Expertise:
+ Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies related to the Discrete Automation Group.
+ Develop a deep understanding of Discrete Automation Group’s product portfolio.
+ Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to customers, showcasing the value proposition of Emerson's products and solutions.

**For This Role, You Will Need:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of relevant industrial sales experience
+ Relevant years of proven Industrial experience commensurate with the level of this position.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with virtual presenting, primarily through Microsoft Teams
+ Strong interpersonal & negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust and close deals.
+ Proven understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams.
+ Technical proficiency with the ability to understand technical issues and troubleshoot problems.
+ The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, exceed revenue goals across multiple product groups, and meet deadlines.
+ Valid driver's license.
+ Ability to travel up to 60%with overnight and extended travel days within the assigned territory to meet business needs.
+ Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
**Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:**
+ 5+ years of Industrial experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
+ Working knowledge of discrete automation solutions supporting technologies listed below preferred:
+ Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
+ Automation Software
+ Fluid Power/Pneumatic control – Factory Automation
+ Fluid Control technology – Process & Industrial Automation
+ Industry experience in adjacent technologies may be considered
+ OEM Equipment
+ Agricultural Technology
+ Mechatronics/Robotics & Instrumentation

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $73,345 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role. This position also participates in a sales bonus program.
