Divisional Manager of Category Management
Divisional Manager of Category Management Location: Fort Wayne, IN Level: Salary Division / Department: Merchandising Reporting to position: Vice President of Merchandising Travel: Occasionally; 25% About the Role: The Divisional Manager of Category Management will have responsibility for category management including planograming and analytics, facilitation of the line review roadmap, and overseeing Market tasks. As a part of working with this team, this role will use a continuous improvement approach to guide their team while developing and/or leading projects to design and implement new processes. Assessing assortment quality and performance, and making recommendations when corrective actions are needed will be a part of the role. To be successful in this position, this person should have strong leadership and communication skills in order to lead a cross functional approach with Sales, and other Merchandising team members to deliver successful results for members. Responsibilities include: + Provide leadership and direction for the Category Management and Analytics + Develop, implement and track success of Category Management strategies created with the Merchandising leadership team to drive profitable sales growth + Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff as needed in the department. + Collaborate with divisional leaders to develop growth plans. + Oversee the department’s operating budget + Analyze performance drivers, proactively determine actionable strategy, and contribute to driving actions designed to achieve overall business goals. + Oversee the development and execution of the plans for featuring product and planograms in special merchandising areas at spring and fall markets + Allocate projects to Category Management Planners/Analysts and manage due dates for space planning deliverables. + Collaborates with the Retail Performance team to develop turnkey solutions and programs for the membership. + Assist in setting and driving the overall Category Management strategy, goals and KPIs Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in business or related field + 3-5 years of experience in retail/wholesale merchandise planning + Experience in using data and analytics to drive decision making and strategy development for merchandising approaches. + Experience with product categorization, expertise in merchandising concepts, strategies, and best practices Skills and Abilities: + Desire to lead and progress a team to drive efficiency in projects + Quality focused and detail oriented + Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for influencing + Analytical skills + Data mining, manipulation, and analysis of data + Collaboration and persuasion skills + Ability to work and think independently, and as a part of a team + Proficient in Microsoft or Google Suite + Proficient with PowerBI and Sigma Benefits available to you: + Full insurance benefits package including Medical, Dental, & Vision + Paid time off to foster work/life balance + Profit sharing + Bonus Pay opportunities + Retirement funding opportunities + Education reimbursement + Health club reimbursement + Career advancement opportunities About Do it Best: We’re the only US-based, member-owned hardware, lumber, and building materials co-op in the home improvement industry.
