DK Learning is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Managing Art Editor to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the visual direction of our educational publishing.
Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Commissioning and guiding the creation of high-quality content, ensuring it aligns with DK's editorial and visual standards. Managing project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to production timelines. Building and maintaining strong relationships with illustrators, photographers, agents, and other industry contacts. Exploring and implementing innovative design approaches, embracing new technologies and staying abreast of industry trends.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead a talented team of designers, overseeing all aspects of the creative process from concept to publication, working closely with different departments to create our well-loved books.
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience: A background as an art editor or senior designer within education or children's publishing. A keen eye for design: Exceptional creative vision and a passion for high-quality design. Strong leadership skills: The ability to inspire and motivate a team, providing clear direction and support. Project management expertise: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Technical proficiency: Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Commercial awareness: A strong understanding of the education publishing market and the ability to identify trends. Excellent communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
