Assist with oversight of the DME Program in three designated regions, providing strategic direction and decision-making regarding operations. Train DME Coordinators and clinical staff on all aspects of the DME Program to cover patient volumes and days off. Ensure that patients and their family members, physicians, and APPs receive a consistent high level of customer service. Make certain that compliance and procedural guidelines are followed. Provide office coverage at main and satellite offices as needed. Under the direct supervision and orders of the physicians, provide proper fitting and education of orthopaedic durable medical equipment (“DME”) products for patients, gather necessary paperwork to facilitate billing on behalf of the contracted client, and collect payments at time of service as directed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist DME Director in day-to-day management of the DME Program. Routine tasks that are to be completed may include but are not limited to: quarterly audits, management reports, site visits, and assisting with management presentations/in-services.Manage employee performance and attendance.Provide training for new DME Coordinators and on-going training support and mentoring for all DME Coordinators.Travel to provide coverage at clinics due to DME Coordinator absences as assigned.May include providing daily assistance to DME Coordinators at assigned clinics when coverage is not required.Establish and maintain good relations with all providers and clinical employees.Properly fit and provide education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for DME products as indicated by the prescribing physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.Educate patients on insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient out-of- pocket portion.Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to third party payer requirements and standard operating procedures.Manage the DME Program for profitability.Organize, prioritize, and schedule DME Coordinators according to office volume/needs.Place, track, and approve orders for medical supplies.Address patient complaints and ensure corrective actions are taken and documented.Comply with all elements of HIPAA law, Medicare, Medicaid, and other required programs.Very frequent verbal (could include over the phone or in person) and written (could include correspondence letters or via email) communication with patients and their family members, physicians, administrators, surgical and clinic employees, and vendor representatives.Provide suggestions to improve daily operations and create efficiencies.Assist Resurgens Orthopaedics in minimizing waste of company resources and reducing costs. RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, or Exercise Sciences is preferred. High School diploma is requiredCertified Orthotic Fitter, or comparable professional medical certification is preferredTwo (2) years related experience as a DME Coordinator is preferred.Experience with the application of DME products to patients is preferredKnowledge of insurance companies with understanding of authorization, verification of benefits, co-pays, and co-insuranceInventory management with EMR and inventory purchasing software programsInteracting with vendor sales representativesSKILLS/ABILITIES
