Job Description
Our Dock Manager holds a key leadership role, overseeing the entire scope of dock operations, including the loading and unloading of aircraft, cargo, and baggage handling. This position involves strategic planning and coordination to ensure that all dock activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with aviation regulations. You will lead a team of supervisors and dock agents, providing direction, training, and performance management to maintain high operational standards. Additionally, you are responsible for liaising with other airport departments, airlines, and external partners to optimize dock operations, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure a seamless flow of operations at the airport docks.
WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AS A DOCK MANAGER
You like working as a team, toward a common goal Oversee the entire dock operations, ensuring efficient loading and unloading of cargo and baggage Manage and mentor a team of dock supervisors and agents, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize dock workflow and resource utilization Collaborate with airline representatives and ground handlers to coordinate operational activities Ensure compliance with all safety and security regulations in dock operations Monitor the condition and usage of ground support equipment, ensuring proper maintenance Analyze operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement in dock processes Handle scheduling of staff and equipment to meet the demands of flight schedules Resolve complex operational issues and handle escalations from the dock team Conduct regular training sessions for dock staff on safety, handling procedures, and customer service Enjoy working with internal and external customers worldwide You have very strong customer service skills You have a great attention to detail Willing to go that extra mile You enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasks Like to build long term relationships with your customers Physical activity may include: Stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to lift 70 pounds or more Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
Qualifications
Minimum age of 18 years old Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents 1 year experience as a Dock Supervisor 2 years dock experience Knowledge of the Aviation Industry Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets Ability to pass a drug screen Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
