Direct Placement Title: Document Control and Compliance Specialist Compensation: $38,000 competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Location: Hatillo, Puerto Rico Company Description: RCM is seeking a Document Control and Compliance Specialist for our client, a leading manufacturer of cardboard boxes and fiber drums in Puerto Rico, serving diverse industries including pharmaceutical, food, electronics, and agriculture. Our client serves over 500 customers across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, delivering high-quality, reliable packaging solutions. Position Description: As Document Control and Compliance Specialist, you'll be the cornerstone of information integrity. You'll handle developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive document control system that ensures all critical company documents are meticulously organized, easily accessible, and fully compliant with internal policies and external regulations. Responsibilities:
+ System Development & Maintenance : Develop, implement, and continuously improve document control procedures following the company's established quality management system.
+ Document Lifecycle Management : Ensure the timely creation, review, revision, distribution, and secure archiving of all controlled documents, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, specifications, forms, and records. Maintain accurate and up-to-date revision and approval history.
+ Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring: Monitor and ensure unwavering adherence to relevant industry standards such as ISO 9001, BRCGS Packaging, and FSC certification requirements, as well as specific customer compliance mandates.
+ Audit Coordination : Play a pivotal role in coordinating and supporting both internal and external audits. This includes meticulous documentation preparation, managing audit schedules, and actively supporting the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
+ Training & Education : Conduct comprehensive training sessions for plant personnel on document control procedures, system usage, and critical compliance-related topics to foster a culture of quality.
+ Stakeholder Liaison : Serve as the primary point of contact for all documentation and compliance requests from customers, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.
+ Continuous Improvement Support : Actively take part in root cause analysis and CAPA processes to address documentation or compliance issues and support continuous improvement initiatives by ensuring proper documentation of process changes and validations.
+ Confidentiality & Security : Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and security for all controlled documents.
Qualifications:
+ 2–5 years of experience in document control or quality compliance in a manufacturing or packaging environment, preferably in a box plant or similar industry.
+ Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, BRCGS Packaging, and FSC certification requirements.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document control software (e.g., SharePoint, Master Control, or similar).
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with ERP or QMS platforms.
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
+ Internal auditor certification (ISO or BRC preferred).
Education
+ Associate or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
