Document Controls/CAD Design Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates / leads technical drafting efforts and liaisons with Document Control and engineering contractors to ensure accurate and accessible process safety documentation.  This position works closely with MPC Project Leads to ensure completed designs are functional and comply with approved design standards, applicable codes, and refinery/OSHA safety requirements.  This position will also be involved supporting various Digital Transformation initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates and ensures CBG drafting service requests are completed efficiently and on schedule.Ensures CBG computer-aided design work is accurate and conforms with CBG policies, procedures, practices, standards and guidelines.Plans and provides orientation/coordination with Contractors, Engineering, Document Control and Suppliers on the requirements and roles they play in our work processes regarding design drafting. Acts as primary point of contact regarding computer-aided drafting (CAD). Works with Information Technology on technology reviews and upgrades. Ensures use of current CAD Design tools, menus and configurations to effectively assist and standardize drafting tasks.  Ensures drawings are easily accessible and available to users (e.g. drawings will open correctly) and available 24x7, with appropriate procedures in place in case of business interruption.  Updates paper copies in the EOC and backup EOC on periodic basis.Primary quality control source for refinery Process Safety Information (PSI) drawings and associated data including Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Cause & Effect Diagrams, etc. Demonstrates proficient skills in utilizing Microstation and Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Plant 3D. Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of PIP, ISA and refining industry standard symbology.Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of P&IDs, PFDs, Plot Plans, One-Lines, Cause & Effects, Instrument Loop Diagrams and Schematics.  Able to interpret and utilize knowledge to validate system configuration appearing on PSI documentation to ensure conformance with actual field conditions.Works proficiently within an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).  Ability to support upcoming conversion to OpenText.Demonstrates a basic understanding of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server. Ability to support ad hoc IT and digital transformation initiatives.Positive and persistent attitude with strong communication and social coordination skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED required; Associates in CAD related field and/or Piping Designer preferred. One year utilizing Microstation and/or Autodesk software is required. Five years of related design and drafting experience is preferred.Able to perform field visits and redline walkdown.
